Woman reveals the brilliant trick that saved her life when she was riding with a drunk driver
Life is all about the little tips and tricks that help us make it through. Having a little knowledge about things and learning from others’ experiences can prove to be a big help in extreme situations. A woman, who goes by @chickennutbread on TikTok, shared one such hack that saved her life in an emergency. She mentioned that she never thought much of it when she first heard about it but when she found herself in a life-threatening situation, it was only this hack that saved her life. “This conversation saved my life. I feel like every teenager should be taught this,” she remarked. The woman revealed that she learned about this unusual idea from her friend’s parents when she was in sixth grade.
“Whenever you’re in the car with a drunk driver, tell them you need to throw up,” the woman shared. She confessed that she too, found it bizarre a hack at the time. “I was like, ‘What am I going to need this for?’” she recalled. However, years down the line, when she was partying with a few friends, this trick saved her life. Recalling her experience, the woman mentioned that she had gone out with her friends. While 2 of the people were her close friends, the other two were mutuals whom she didn’t know well. “I realized we’re pretty intoxicated and we should not be driving,” the woman remarked.
She was about to suggest getting an Uber but her friends refused. Calling the two mutuals with whom she wasn’t well acquainted “Carly and Mark,” the woman mentioned that they, despite not being in their senses, wanted to drive. Carly insisted on driving Mark’s car and the friends got in, ready to go to the beach. The woman mentioned that things were going fine till the driver, in her inebriated state, began speeding. “She was going 60 and 70, 80, we’re going 90 miles an hour on a San Diego freeway,” she said. The careless act, of course, had implications and Carly mishandled the car several times. It was then that the woman decided she needed to stop Carly. She motioned her to slow down or stop the car but the Carly wasn't paying heed to any requests.
After a few minutes of being in the “death car,” the woman immediately remembered the hack she learned. “I said, ‘I have to throw up,’” she added. Afraid that she’d throw up in the car, Mark immediately got Carly to pull over and everyone got out of the car, after which the woman got an Uber. Several people took the advice after hearing about the woman’s worrying experience. @hannah.halter12 wrote, “This is very valuable information.” @sara_ayee added, “I wish they taught us this in school.” @misedukated added, “I’ve had to do this once too and it saved me from being abducted.”
