In today’s economy, frugality is a necessity for a majority of families. With the festive season and hopes to have an extravagant holiday, it gets challenging to be financially mindful. Many people get financially strained with expenses. A Christmas dinner is a tradition and much looked forward to. Mostly, families are forced to pick between having a good Christmas dinner or saving a couple of dollars. A mom named Amy (The Amy Way) shared a boggling way to get a hold of both efficiently to spend a carefree and joyous Christmas. She shared a video of how she managed to get a solid, delicious Christmas dinner for $25.

The woman who feeds a family of seven enjoys dabbling into new challenges to see how she can save money while ensuring all the members’ nutrition and tummy needs are met. She mentioned that it is possible to have a fulfilling dinner at Christmas for a huge family without getting broke. Amy chose to shop at Aldi and started picking out all the vegetables first. Starting with Asparagus at $2.69 and baby carrots for 95 cents, the mom moved on to bread rolls and other groceries. She picked up a pack of bread rolls for a few cents. The mom noted that it's a better idea than making them at home. Next, Amy suggested being mindful of spending on meats. “Meat is definitely where the bulk of my budget is going. This half-pork loin is priced at $2.99. I found one that is almost four pounds, priced at $7.98,” the mom shared.

Picking items based on money value is a good way to save dollars and Amy was doing just that. The mom grabbed some pie crust and canned cherries for a pie. She added that items that are replaceable like butter for margarine, should be picked based on what’s left of the budget. The mom noted that the latter wouldn’t make a crust as good as with butter but if the budget requires, replacing is always a frugal option. Next, the mom left for Walmart and picked up some ice cream and instead of getting eggs to make as a dish, she replaced the same with sweet potatoes. She also got some fettuccine and a few other items to go with the same.

Amy’s trick was to purchase all the main items first and then play around with the sides and other dishes to see which was most efficient financially and preferentially. The mom added that she would also be using staple items from her pantry to make up for anything less or missing. The total from both stores amounted to $24.78. The mom still managed to save 22 cents while purchasing everything she needed for a rich and flavorful Christmas dinner for 7. The rest of the video was followed with tips and recipes for making the dinner.

People were mind-blown by the genius idea. Many were stunned to know that just simple replacements and money-savers can easily cut down the expense by so much. @karenmbbaxter wrote, “More than any other year, I think this year you showing how to do Christmas Dinner on a budget will help many people.” @Bubble TeaKristen added, “I can't believe you were able to serve 7 people a Christmas Dinner for only $25!
