100-year-old grandma who never sat on her couch without plastic covers had epic reaction when granddaughter took them off

Many people have the habit of keeping plastic on furniture and many appliances. Adults might recall their parents and grandparents keeping the plastic on couches to keep it from getting dirty and messy with kids jumping all over it. Over a period of time, they have been accustomed to sitting on the plastic, even if a little uncomfortable. A woman who goes by @queen_traybay revealed that she decided to surprise her 100-year-old grandmother by taking off her well-kept plastic from the couch and having her sit on it. Her reaction is everything.

The video captured the hallway with a mustard couch, looking fresh and new. The woman discreetly took out the yellow plastic that had probably been protecting her grandmother’s couch for decades. She asked the 100-year-old to sit on it. “Grandma, how does it feel to finally sit on your couch without the plastic?” the woman asked. Ever so confused and baffled, the grandmother got silent and a wave of realization struck her. She figured out why sitting felt more comfortable. But at what cost? Still, in disbelief, she looked at her couch, devoid of the priceless plastic, leaving her dumbfounded.

“You like it without the plastic?” the woman asked. “Yeah,” the elderly woman replied, forcing the slightest smile on her face. In her caption, the woman wrote, “I always wondered when she could finally enjoy her couch. I think at 100 years, it’s time.” If you belong to a household where the plastic has been on the couch, you do not take it off and almost 13,000 commenters were brutally aware of the fact. @dreadheadalexx said, “She’s putting it right back as soon as you leave.” @hrblock commented, “She’s probably gonna call her grandson to come over and put the plastic back.” @giovonyatcox remarked, “The no eye contact is a dead giveaway of how she feels.”
@theofficialmisspretty hilariously wrote, “You’re not coming back over, every time you come, she’s gonna pretend like no one’s home.” If you’re not aware of the craze of plastic over the couch, Sankara Xasha Turé’s (@sankaraxt) post on Instagram will give you a gist. Despite being a creative visionary artist and having a knack for fashion, as her bio states, even she knows the plastic has got to stay on. Posing with a couch, with an evident plastic layer on, she explained how it is not just protection but a valuable addition to families. “The action of placing a plastic covering over a couch or other furniture is done often by an elder to keep their dusty grandchildren off of their ‘good’ furniture,” the woman wrote.

@queen_traybay I’ve always wondered when she would finally enjoy her couch. I think at 100 years old its time! #plasticoncouch #oldschool #retro #plasticonfurniture #blackfamilies #oldpeopleontiktok #centenarian #centenarian #bootsontheground ♬ Hell To Da Naw Naw Naw - Bishop Bullwinkle
“If my 90-year-old Grandlove saw this picture with my shoes on, sitting on her ‘good’ furniture like this, I’d probably get my ass beat at 31 years old,” she remarked. She even shared a glimpse of her grandma and the plastic-wrapped couch in the background, like a prized baby in the center of the house. People were quick to point out that her grandma might be fuming in her grave, witnessing her actions. @hattorihanzo808 said, “You're breaking all kinds of rules, glad you’re alive to post it lol.”

It was a big hit among people in the comments section. u/LutraLor remarked, “I remember trying to convince my stepmother that you were supposed to take the plastic off the lampshades. She thought I was insane." u/louisiananbubble said, “This is the most real thing I’ve seen here. I can feel this photo!”
