In a world where confidence is easily beaten by stereotypes and authenticity is viewed as absurd, people are called to embrace differences. Each of their unique imperfections makes them the precious souls they are. A mom named Kerry Bloch(@dsmom58) revealed that her son David had autism and would barely speak, per TODAY. However, when he did speak, he asked his parents a heartbreaking question. Trying her best to ensure her answer makes an impact, the mom shared the same on X in a since-deleted post. Several people answered David’s question in the most reassuring way. “My 21-year-old autistic son has no communication skills. Today he asked me his first question ever. It was, ‘Would someone like me?’” Kerry wrote.

"He can't get the communication part out but when I told him, I said, 'David, you have friends,''' the mom recalled. "He's never been around friends, he's never been to parties or anything like that. I just feel like he missed so much because of that immune disorder,” she said. To help Kerry encourage her son, people poured in heartwarming comments. Youth, older people, friends, loved ones and even those who have conditions similar to David’s rendered support like no other. @danferdinand shared a picture of himself with his kids and wrote, “Tell David, he has a friend from London…and my family.”

@HayesFor Sheriff mentioned, “David, my name is Ross. This is my son, Lincoln. He’s 7 years old and is also autistic. We would both like to be your friend!” @MattBamaTidwell wrote, “My oldest son has autism. Tell him the answer is yes. Most people would be more understanding if they understood what autism is.” Soon, the post went viral and more and more support came in. David found himself getting invited to playdates and other friendship offers. @BigCoffinHunter wrote, “I’m late to the party, David, but Nick and I say hello! You look like a nice person to know. Nick has a special character too. He is 23. He’d like playing video games with you.”

Jacksonville Jaguars, David’s favorite football team, also came across the video and decided to share a special message with the 21-year-old. Several players joined in to share a video revealing that they’re in awe of David and would love to be his friend. “You have a whole team that likes you and is a fan of you, David. We’re honored to be your favorite team,” the caption read. David was overwhelmed with the love he received. His mum ensured she read every message shared with love to her son.

"He was in tears. I think he's watched it about a hundred times now and he's just amazed by that," Kerry remarked. As a form of thanks, Kerry even shared that her son was working on a handmade card to appreciate everyone’s thoughtfulness and kindness. In a follow-up tweet, she shared a picture of David holding a placard that read, “Thank you, friends, for liking me.” This whole outpouring of love has left David with a newfound security and hope. His mum recalled, "He came up to me last night before he went to bed and said, 'Trust people.'''
