Some moments of healing and support might feel no less than serendipity. A 29-year-old woman had such an experience while she was on a flight some months after losing her beloved grandfather. She was having a hard time coping with the loss, but then she saw a note carefully tucked inside a magazine on the plane, it changed things. The note was addressed to someone who had the same name as her and it helped her heal, per her interview with Good Things Guy.

The woman, Emily Cross, works as a producer for the Mr Price shoot team and was on a flight to Cape Town from Durban when she had the experience. "I had a special moment happen to me this week. A bit weird, a bit odd, but definitely special. I had to take a quick in-and-out flight to Cape Town from Durban to witness a signature. Already, the trip felt unusual," Cross recounted. The flight was with a smaller airline called CemAir and there were only nine passengers onboard. She sat in a spot she usually took during such flights and there were no other people in the entire row. She didn't feel like using any entertainment material that she had brought with her and decided to read the in-flight magazine instead.

"FlySafair flights never have them, so I decided to flip through it," Cross shared. "After about two flips, deep in the spine, I saw a folded piece of paper. Me being the nosey little person I am, I instantly opened it to read it." The letter was coincidentally addressed to someone named Emily as well and it seemed like it was meant for a little girl. "I know the letter was definitely meant for a little girl on tour — but did it also help a 29-year-old 'teenager' who handles all shoots for the biggest fashion retailer in the country and has five solid grey hairs? Yes."  As she read the letter, Cross thought it read like something her late grandfather would have written for her and it helped her heal.

"Dear Emily, I hope you enjoy every moment of the tour! Play every game just like you always do and bring your energy to the field. You are seriously so good at what you do. Keep being your awesome self and make the most of this tour!" She added, "I don’t know what I believe in, but this was a special little bit of magic to come across." Cross lost her grandfather in December last year and was having a hard time dealing with it.

So she decided to take the letter with her, frame it and keep it on her bedside table from then on. The letter had words that she really needed to hear at that moment. "Also, can we take a moment to see that whichever little person wrote this for their friend Emily is the absolute sweetest?" Cross continued. It had found her at the perfect time. Cross felt that the note on her bedside table would act as a constant reminder for her to stay strong, hopeful and joyful throughout her difficult times.
