3rd graders drew a wedding banner for their teacher’s brother — a missing detail in the bride's sketch made the couple treasure it for 25 years

The students then colored the letters, added glitter, drew dogs for fun, and placed the bride and groom in the center.

People often hold onto handmade gifts for years because they serve as reminders of the thought and affection that went into making them. A touching story shared online showed how a group of third graders created a wedding banner that would remain special for decades. The project was made for a teacher’s brother and his new bride, and one funny detail in the drawing made it impossible to forget. The memory was shared on TikTok under the handle @viperpilotkarathrace on May 29, 2026.

The teacher asked the class what they wanted on the banner, and the children quickly got to work. They requested that she write “Congratulations, Dave and Tony” in large bubble letters because they liked how she drew them. The students then colored the letters, added glitter, drew dogs for fun, and placed the bride and groom in the center. The groom, Dave, was easy to draw because many of the children knew he was tall with curly red hair and had seen him before. The bride had straight brown hair, but instead of a face, she had a giant question mark, and someone had written underneath, “Who is she?”

The teacher had explained what the bride, Tony, looked like, but since none of the students had ever met her, they thought the joke was hilarious and included it anyway. She shared that after telling the happy news to her students, the children decided they wanted to celebrate the occasion too. They came up with the idea of making a large congratulatory banner for the couple and eagerly began planning how they would decorate it together.

The banner became even more meaningful because of the circumstances surrounding the wedding. The teacher explained that she did not attend the ceremony because the bride’s sister was unable to be there. Out of respect and fairness, the couple felt she should also stay away from the event. So, while the wedding was taking place, she spent the day teaching and sharing the occasion with her students instead.

When the banner was finished, it was, as the teacher remembered, “covered in glitter” and looked beautiful. The drawing of the groom closely resembled her brother, while the question mark on the bride’s face became the feature everyone laughed about the most. The woman later shared that even after 25 years of marriage, the bride and groom still have the banner, proving that a classroom project made with creativity and kindness can leave a lasting impression.

Children always have a way of surprising others with their imagination. In another wholesome incident, a father, Austin Miles Geter, took his children outside to play with chalk and was delighted when his daughter drew a simple picture of her mother. Things became funnier when she decided to draw him next. He watched closely as she added a face and smile before stepping back to include what she proudly called a “Big, big belly.” Left stunned by the honest artwork, the father could only respond, “Oh my God.” The playful moment quickly turned into a funny family memory that made many people laugh, and the father later joked, "We stopped drawing with chalk after this day."
