5-yr-old gave dad a 'leaf' as keepsake to carry in his wallet. 10 years later, Dad still carries it: 'He doesn’t know I have it'
Keepsakes can be special to people for a variety of reasons. One might also find them priceless in terms of value. A dad kept a four-leaf clover with him for one such reason as well. The man shared a photo of the leaf, carefully laminated and in excellent condition for something that has been with him for the past 10 years. He pointed out that his son gave him the leaf when he was just five years and the man kept it for a special reason, according to his Reddit post, where he goes by u/Best-Reality6718.
"My son found this and gave it to me when he was five years old. I have carried it in my wallet ever since the day he gave it to me," the dad wrote in the description. He also shared a photo of the preserved leaf. The man pointed out that he had kept the leaf in his wallet for the last 10 years. "He doesn't know I have it. It's my prized possession," he went on. The man shared that he folded clear tape around the leaf to preserve it. Although the man didn't remember the exact date, he shared that he received the leaf in the springtime after his son turned five, according to a comment.
In one comment, the dad shared that he was safeguarding the leaf to give it to his son one day. "One day, when he's older, I'll give it to him to carry. I like keeping it to myself right now!" He also shared the exact time he was planning to hand over the leaf to his son. "I think when he moves off to college, I'll give it to him. That was my plan anyway." People appreciated the dad's sweet gesture to preserve his son's important childhood memory in the comments section of the post.

When I was cleaning out my wallet because she bought me a new one and saw it. I can't count how many times I have read it if I am having a rough day and need a pick-me-up. I have a picture of it saved on my phone as well, just in case I were ever to lose it." u/Harry_Saturn commented, "I have the very first picture my wife and I ever took in my wallet. She took it and printed it right then and there, right after we started dating and just handed it to me. I was 19 years old and I've had that same exact one for 16 years, oddly enough."
u/JinnyWinny remarked, "I love this! One of my sons gave me a paperclip that he shaped into a heart when he was 9. I've kept it in my jewelry box ever since and my son is about to turn 30." u/HereAgainWeGoAgain shared, "When my uncle was on his deathbed, his crying wife told him that there were so many more things she wanted to tell him. It took me a long time to understand she meant things like this."
