8-year-old was ‘dead set’ on getting a sewing machine as present—the first thing he sewed proved his love for his sister

If this isn't brotherly love, we don't know what is!

The holiday season is one of the most exciting times for kids and the reason is quite simple - gifts. While most people spend days thinking about what they want in a present, a young boy named Ethan is focused on a more thoughtful plan as a brother. His mom, Ali Hynek (@ali_hynek), shared that her son had been pestering her for a sewing machine as a gift for Christmas. When his parents finally agreed and gifted him the same, his first creation had everyone’s heart melting in awe—not for what he created but for the love behind the same.

The mom captured a video on Instagram of the kids opening their gifts. In her caption, she explained what pushed her to get Ethan the sewing machine. “Ethan was dead set on asking for a sewing machine for Christmas. We had watched several videos on how to sew a few months ago and he was so thrilled at the thought that he could make anything. I realized he wasn’t going to let it go so we got him a sewing machine.” The video adorably captured how excited the little tot was to create. As soon as he spotted the machine, he shrieked in joy with the widest smile.

“This gift is priceless to me. Seeing his beautiful face light up was the perfect gift he gave right back to me,” Hynek remarked. The mom added that he took the trouble to learn as much as he could from his mother. “I am not a seamstress but remembered what my mom had taught me and together, we figured it out,” she recalled. They set up the machine and the boy was already excited to create his very first piece. As his first project, Ethan decided to use his gift to create a gift for his little sister, Penelope. The little boy worked hard in getting material and stitching together the cutest bed set for his sibling. He put together little sheets, a pillow and a cover for the same.

Paying careful attention to detail, he made the markings, measurements and more to create the miniature bed set. In the glimpses shared by the mom, Ethan can be seen excited but focused at work as he carefully made each piece for the bed set. As soon as he revealed the same to his sister, her joy knew no bounds. She immediately got her miniature toys and put them on the bed, tucking them with the handmade sheets and pillow. “He’s so proud of himself and I’m beaming,” Hynek wrote, sharing her shy but eager son, who was overjoyed to make the simple yet love-filled present.

Several people were in awe of the boy for thinking about others before himself. Others commended his skill in sewing at a young age. @maizeydaisy31 remarked, “Thank you for honoring what his actual interest is vs the societal stigma put upon him.” @mrs.christina.t said, “I love that the first thing he makes is for someone else… how selfless and sweet.” @isabella89bella added, “He saw what she needed and wanted and made it for her.”
