A neighbor stopped them during a routine dog walk to hand over a note from her little daughter — it hit her harder than they expected

The pet parent was delighted by their simple routine of waving at each other, but the handwritten note left them emotional.

Sometimes, even the smallest acts of kindness that lie in everyday scenarios have the power to bring a smile to our faces. A Reddit user who goes by (u/thundering_emancipat) shared how their regular walks with their golden retriever every morning took a delightful turn after their neighbor started greeting them. The little girl would wave at them as they passed, and it became a thing. However, to their surprise, they were handed a note from the kid, which added to the entire experience. Sharing the heartwarming story on October 20, 2025, the pet parent expressed how special that simple note became.

The user was often greeted by the little kid who watched them take their golden retriever out for a walk every morning. It was their little routine; the kid would sit by her window whenever the duo passed by. But one day, they unexpectedly received a note from the kid's mom which read, "We like seeing you!" Additionally, the note contained a drawing of the pet parent and their dog, which filled their heart with joy. "I don't even know this kid's name, but that hit me harder than any compliment I've gotten all year," they exclaimed. They couldn't stop gushing over the letter and immediately showed it off to their friends. It was a warm reminder that kindness still existed. "That note's going on my fridge forever," they wrote.

The story left the internet feeling happy for the pet parent while sharing their own experiences. u/clw1001 wrote, "That's really cute. It just goes to show that we are not always alone, as we often feel. Draw a picture back and give it to the mom. Draw something else you can think of. The kid will be thrilled. Trust me on that. I have three grandchildren." u/heyitsmejomomma commented, "I once rescued a dog out of a busy intersection (before cell phones), came home, and called the number on the tag. The lady came to pick it up, and she said her kids were so happy, they drew me some pictures." u/Wavey_1 wrote, "Write the date of the day you got the note on the back of it! I wish I had done that to a few precious mementos I have to remember when I got them."

Kindness is never tied to one's age. In another story, a dad shared his experience of receiving a surprise text from his wife's phone. While he was at work, he saw a message from his wife. Turns out, his 8-year-old had taken her phone to type the cutest text — "Daddy, it is Logan. I can't wait to go on vacation because it is so much fun. I love you." The dad, who was overwhelmed with emotion, expressed his gratitude upon receiving the sweet text at work. While the kids' gestures were simple, the meaning behind them melted both of the adults, as it came from a genuine place of love.
