Birth photographer captured husband’s reaction during wife’s C-section — viewers say he shouldn’t be in the delivery room again
The experience of becoming parents is always special, and many couples prefer to share that moment. It can also be especially supportive for a wife during a cesarean (C-section) delivery, as having her husband present can provide emotional strength and reassurance. Perhaps that’s why, when Mariane Felippe, a Brazilian woman, underwent a C-section, her husband Maicon Pedroso was by her side in the operating room, as reported by Mirror on Monday, April 27, 2026. Birth photographers Patricia Vogel and Viviane Borges (@matre_fotografia) were also present to capture the moment. Along with the birth of the couple's second daughter, the clip also caught the dad's reaction in the delivery room, which left the internet baffled.
Pedroso was holding his wife's hand as doctors operated on her on April 18, 2026. But his hold soon loosened as he slid a little to the side and eventually lost his grip on the stool. The dad was losing his consciousness, and the assistants present had to grab him and lay him on the floor. The husband had completely lost control of his body. His eyes were wide open, legs lifted in the air by the medical staff, while another assistant tried to fan him for some air. The rest of the staff focused on the mom and baby, and smiled in a cheerful mood, while the surgeons gave a thumbs-up gesture on the video. “I don’t remember anything at all from the moment the baby was born,” Pedroso later said.
The C-section was done successfully, and they welcomed their newborn. A C-section (cesarean birth) is a surgical procedure used to deliver a baby when a vaginal delivery cannot be done safely, according to the Cleveland Clinic. The photographers added that the process went well until the moment the dad fainted, even though the couple was initially a bit anxious. “At the exact moment the baby was born, the father fainted,” they remarked. It was also added that the father fainting out of shock has often happened a couple of times during their previous shoots. Pedroso recovered quickly and then was able to see his newborn and spend time with her. The shared video received interesting reactions from the online users, most using the opportunity to elicit humor.
Some people suggested that the man would have been better off avoiding the delivery room altogether, as mentioned in a report by The Sun. One of the users, @aminatibiofficial, joked, “That’s cause he forgot to breathe while pushing.” @dr.camilorocha confessed, "Gave birth to both of my sons. The second one gave me a killer." @fabiolacasanova commended the others in the room, "The medical team dying of laughter, and the mother not letting anything shake her moment with her baby."
