Bride broke tradition and chose her father-in-law to walk her down the aisle. Her word of thanks left him crying ugly tears
A wedding day is one of the most significant days in a bride's life, and choosing the person who will walk her down the aisle plays a crucial role. Taking an unconventional route, a bride decided to have her father-in-law walk her down the aisle. However, moments before her wedding, she chose to honor him with a speech that moved everyone to tears. Sharing the heartfelt moment between the bride and her future father-in-law, the wedding photographer, John Bunns' (@johnbunnfilms), video has captured hearts online.
In the video, a bride dressed in a gorgeous white gown, holding a bouquet, approaches her father-in-law and states that she wishes to share a few things with him before he walks her down the aisle. She holds his hands, while the father-in-law appears emotional and welling with tears, and listens as she says, "I want you to know how incredibly honored I am that you would take this walk with me. I want you to know how thankful I am to have you in my life and for the example that you set for your son." She continues, "I want you to know how grateful I am for all of this because I know that none of it would have been possible without you, and so I want you to have this," as she hands him a handwritten note that she poured into expressing her gratitude for her father-in-law.
A 2008 study authored by Mary Claire Morr Serewicz examined how in-laws sharing information about family relationships, history and acceptance relates to couples' satisfaction with their in-laws and their marriage. The study interviewed 129 married couples, and the data were analyzed using a dyadic approach. The study showed that feeling like part of the family helped explain how in-laws' openness increased satisfaction, and that satisfaction with in-laws in turn improved marriages. By accepting her as part of his family, the father-in-law was thus able to establish a healthy and loving relationship with his son's bride.
