A person might form an instant connection with an animal at times. A 10-year-old boy, Sonny and his spotted, Scottish cat, Kiki, have shared such a bond with each other ever since the boy picked her from a litter of kittens, per Cats Protection. Sonny shared that he saw Kiki playing with her brothers and "fell in love" with her immediately. The boy's mom, Michelle Scott, shared that the love was indeed mutual as the cat would follow the boy around everywhere and even walk to school with him. Soon enough, it wasn't just the little boy who loved her, but also a huge number of people from their community.

"Kiki started following Sonny to school really just out of the blue," Scott shared. "We realized that when Sonny left the house, she was close behind." The boy noticed that his cat was lingering in the playground one day. "I felt a bit shocked, a bit excited. I thought maybe I could be popular from this," Sonny expressed, as both he and his mom chuckled. "Kiki has brought the Kelvindale community together in so many lovely ways," the mom pointed out. People now come and talk to the family because they saw Kiki and even parents who had never talked to the mom before started interacting with her.

"People are talking to Sonny from different classes, kids he has never spoken to and I think that it's really nice that it has had such a positive impact on his life." She added, "It's lovely that our little cat Kiki has made that happen." The school was so enamored by the cat that the family could sell Kiki merchandise to raise money for charity. Not just the students, but also the teachers loved the merchandise a lot. "It made me very happy," Sonny went on. "I think she just brings a lot of joy because when she goes to school, she is almost like an extra pupil at school," Scott pointed out. "She has become a school cat, almost a school mascot."

"I think she has just helped kids to understand cats. How to treat them, how to be respectful towards them," Scott remarked. "And the joke is that she has a 100 percent attendance at school." While Sonny felt that his cat had brought a "nice, fun essence" to the school, which made each day very exciting. He expressed, "She is a strange cat, definitely one of a kind. But I love Kiki." She also walks back home with the boy and other kids at Kelvindale Primary School in Glasgow. All of it has made Kiki one of the three finalists in the National Cat Awards in the category, Connected Cats. The awards are given out by Cats Protection, the largest cat welfare charity in the UK. People can vote for Kiki to win the award up until July 31.

The winners in each category will be announced on September 24, 2025. People also showed their love for Kiki in the comments section of the video. @liagrianomendez4432 wrote, "Very beautiful Kiki. The most spectacular companion to go to class, very faithful and sweet. I love kitties." @NancyDickinson commented, "What an asset, no doubt. If the boy got into a fight or similar, the cat would run and get the teacher, or run and get Mum, or turn into a Ninja cat. What a lovely story and what a gorgeous cat." @elvinita remarked, "How cute she is. I love Kiki."
