Cops were called on a kid asking for yard work to buy a new video game — he then got an unforgettable surprise

The police coming to a person can mean good news for them at times. A young boy's case is testimony to that. The boy had been going around his neighborhood, asking for yard work, so he could save up money for his new PlayStation. But one of the neighbors called the police on him and asked them to remove him from the neighborhood. However, they happened to call an officer who was a big gaming fan himself. So, instead of removing the boy from the neighborhood, the man planned a special surprise for him, per the City of Hapeville Police's Facebook page.

"Officer Colleran was dispatched to a call wanting a juvenile removed from the area," the police wrote. "He made contact with a young man who explained he was in the area because he wanted to do yard work: pulling weeds, cutting grass and trimming hedges to save up for a PlayStation." The young man was polite, respectful and truthful, according to the post. The officer turned out to be a gamer himself and was very impressed by what the boy was doing to get a PlayStation. So he decided to help the boy reach his goal. The officer drove back to the neighborhood with a PlayStation in the boot space of his car to surprise the boy.
"Officer Colleran and some of his friends were able to not only get this young man the video game system but a gift card to pay for the membership so he could play immediately," the source revealed. The officers collected around $400 to $500, per Good News Network. The boy was really excited to see his gift and gave the officer a big hug. "Officer Colleran made sure that this young man knew they would play on the same team online soon!" People shared their thoughts on the officer's wholesome gesture in the comments section of the video.
Ruthie Brown wrote, "Shout out to the Officer for proving that not all police in this City are evil toward another human of color. May the Lord bless him and his family abundantly. He deserves an award and a pay raise." Guillame Lamez commented, "As a retired police officer, I am deeply touched by this officer's compassion. I would love to donate to any cause that he thinks worthy. Just reply to me. Thank you, officer .. I'm so proud of you." Brittany Harry News remarked, "I could not love this more. Thank you, Officer Colleran and friends, for acknowledging this boy was doing absolutely nothing wrong! He was seeking work so he could get himself a PlayStation. Very kind gesture, Hapeville Police Department. Stay safe out there!"
Gala York Samuels shared, "Saw this amazing officer and outstanding young man on my news feed in Texas! What a wonderful thing happened here. We all need more of this kind of interaction. Extra special thanks to the officer for having the compassion and wisdom to sort the information out and perform a great act of kindness." Michael Vogel expressed, "I saw this post in Philly. We need more people like this officer and this young man. It's awesome to see a young person with a work ethic and an officer who takes time to be involved with his community. God bless you both."
