Retail store employees often go unappreciated for their hard work and excellent customer service. They are always on the front lines, assisting customers, but it's rare for customers to take the time to acknowledge the dedication of those who help them. A store’s shift supervisor, who goes by u/cwu007, shared one such wholesome situation in a post on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. She revealed that a customer called one employee to check if his prescription was ready. However, he also asked the store employee how many workers were present, then gave a heartwarming reason for asking this.

The call began as a casual customer interaction, and when the worker was asked how many employees were there, they casually said there were around 30. That’s when the man revealed that he owned a donut shop around ten miles away. He had made a couple of extra batches and wanted to give the store some as a token of appreciation. The shopper noted that since he was coming to pick up his prescription anyway, he would be glad to drop the items at the store. “The customer walks in with several large bakery boxes, all filled with donuts,” the supervisor recalled. The entire department happily munched on them. The boss even asked if he had left behind a business card so she could keep him in mind for any occasions.

What touched the supervisor was that out of all possible recipients, he chose a mundane group of store workers. “What I feel made this an extra random act of kindness was that the donut shop was at least 10 miles away,” she added. There was an outlet right next to his shop, along with other stores that he could have given the free donuts to. However, he chose to pack them all, make the long drive with the heavy package, and deliver them only to this particular outlet. Instead of choosing efficiency or marketing, he chose gratitude. “Whatever his reason. We’re all glad we got free donuts,” she remarked. The gesture was certainly grand and too kind.

In a similar instance, a passenger became the focus of attention during a flight after a brief interaction with the flight attendant. When she spoke to the staff, she was touched by the conversation. She learned about their struggles and was fascinated by everything they do. In return, she decided to pay for the entire cabin’s drinks and food. “All the flight attendants teared up,” one staff member noted. Inspired by her kind act, another passenger decided to do something kind. She asked for a sheet of paper and requested all passengers on board to write a sweet message for the cabin crew. Before deplaning, the letters were handed over to the staff. It instantly became an unforgettable venture. “To have one guest buy a plane-full of food and drinks for everyone was above and beyond, but then to have the handwritten notes was overwhelming in the best way possible,” one flight attendant said.
