Dad body-shamed his wife and daughters for years — when he proudly posted his own 'athletic' photo, one comment gave him a taste of his own medicine
Dads are the first men their daughters will ever interact with, and how they make them feel can stay with them for life. That is why they play an important role in building them up. Unfortunately, for Threads user Lill, who goes by @lillsonanadventure, the experience was very different. In a post shared on June 21, 2026, she revealed that her dad constantly body-shamed her, her sisters, and her mom. Even after they grew up, the comments didn’t stop. However, one post he shared of himself online quickly became the reason he would be humbled.
The woman explained that she had always opposed such remarks, especially after enduring them for years. Her father body-shamed his wife to the point that she developed an eating disorder. He referred to one of his daughters as the “fat sister.” Even when Lill was struggling with kidney stones and was on bed rest during a difficult pregnancy, he commented on her appearance, calling her “chunky.” This backfired when he took to social media to share a photo of his own body, which he was proud of. After “starving” himself for years to achieve what he described as an athletic look, he posted online, only to receive a comment that read, “Man, why are you traumatizing us with your saggy n**ples.”
Lill went no contact with her dad long ago, but learning that karma finally caught up with him felt like a relief. She said he likely deleted the picture shortly afterward because he “doesn’t do well with criticism.” What made the moment even more satisfying to her was that he had deliberately posed in a bodybuilder’s stance after all that hard work, expecting to impress people online.
Lill believed he deserved every bit of the backlash after spending years damaging the self-esteem and body image of multiple women. She revealed that the comments weren’t limited to her family. At one point, he even reached out to her teenage friend to tell her she was “too fat to wear the swimsuit.” “I believe he wholeheartedly earned that,” she added.
According to a study published in Wiley, parental influence can play a significant role in shaping body image. The study, which included 156 participants, found that both direct criticism through weight-related comments and indirect criticism, such as expressing dissatisfaction with a child’s body or diet, could leave lasting effects. Participants reported that, especially during adolescence, even encouragement to diet influenced how they viewed themselves. One can only imagine how Lill, her sister, and her mom coped after years of disrespect and cruelty directed at their appearance.
Commenters couldn’t have been happier that someone finally shut him down. @ellykay1970 wrote, “That's a great karma story. He deserved that.” @helenamacri praised the anonymous commenter, saying, “That was historical reparation, not body shaming.” @janae.nae.nae remarked, “I personally think he could use a few more critiques of his appearance.”
