Kids can be unexpectedly sassy, and their reactions often catch parents off guard. When Threads user William Elston (@willieearll923) told his four-year-old daughter that she wasn’t allowed to use curse words in their house, her unexpected comeback stunned him. Sharing the story with his Threads followers on Thursday, March 5, 2026, he revealed his astonishment over her logical response.

The Threads user and a girl-dad, William Elston, wanted to teach his daughter that it was not okay to use curse words inside their house. When he heard her using an offensive word for not getting her way, he pulled her aside and told her, "We don't use words like that in our house." However, his daughter, with no hesitation, corrected him, implying why his rule did not apply. He wrote, "Bruh, this child looked me in my eyes and said, 'This is an apartment, not a house.'" He also shared a picture from possibly the same day the event unfolded, in which he was seen kneeling down to talk to his four-year-old daughter

Soon after his post gained over 3,000 views, many users chimed in to share their personal stories of dealing with sassy kids. @s.greenglover recounted, "While we were doing a Christmas photoshoot, I understand my little 3-year-old granddaughter inadvertently bumped into the photographer (all in his way...), then told him, 'Say excuse me.' This, after she is the one who offended." @crazymomma1054 joked, "4 years old with an attitude! All I can say is good luck." @ryda98 wrote, "Kids don't care what they say now. They don't have a filter at all. Some of the things that come out of their little mouths will have you asking, 'Who or where do you get that from?'"

Kids can be brutally honest, saying exactly what they think without any filter. In another story, a girl named Valentina was asked by her mother what Valentine's Day was all about. The video revealed her daughter, who kept her hand on her head, sighed, and then turned the question around, to say, "I don't know, maybe you should ask your husband." She then went back to eating her meal as if nothing had happened, which left her mother stunned. The kid's expression was clear that she did not want to be asked unwanted questions during her mealtime.

Another story that echoes a similar sentiment involves Dad Josh, who was outsmarted by his toddler. When the young dad was doing the dishes, the little girl asked for a cup of milk. Since his hands were busy, he politely told her, "Wait for a minute." However, the daughter did something very unexpected that baffled him. She instructed Alexa to set a timer for a minute. Josh, who was completely taken aback by the little girl's sass, looked shocked and intrigued by her hilarious solution to the problem.
