Dad was in tears seeing his firstborn for the first time — then he asked something that floored hospital staff

Meeting their new baby might be very exciting for a new dad. However, one dad had a very important question to ask when he met his baby for the first time. Although he was very happy to see his first baby, his first question was about his wife and everyone at the hospital was really surprised at the query. The man was in tears as he looked at his daughter and recorded his own reaction. He did it as his wife couldn't witness that moment because of her emergency c-section, per a video shared by Rosalie Marie, who goes by @xx.rosaliee on TikTok.

The man was patiently waiting outside the delivery room when the nurses came outside with his daughter. The man immediately started crying as they wheeled her bassinet to him. He stood up to get a closer look at his daughter with tears in his eyes and immediately asked, "Is my wife okay?" The nurses reassured him that she was okay and had to be put under general anesthesia. "They told me about it. But she's not up yet?" One nurse told him that they were just finishing up and she should be out soon. They pointed out that his wife had mentioned that he was going to play a Stevie Wonder song on his guitar. But he couldn't bring it because he was in a rush to get to the hospital because of the emergency.

The dad stood there admiring his daughter as the nurses congratulated him. He also asked the nurse's permission if he could let his daughter hold his finger. "Can I hold her?" The staff assured him that he could and they would bring her to him if he sat down. Rosalie revealed that her husband had recorded himself meeting their baby because she had a c-section and he couldn't be in the room with her through the text overlay of the video. "I couldn't meet her for over two hours, but her daddy got this moment with her and it's so special." The caption read, "I cry every time I watch this — my baby is so blessed to have a Daddy who loves her."

"One of the nurses met me and explained that I wouldn’t be allowed in the room with my wife. Of course, I started to panic. All I could think was, she must be terrified — and I wasn’t able to comfort her," the husband, Jake, told TODAY.com. He paced outside the room for 40 minutes, until the nurses came out with his daughter. The man also ended up giving his daughter skin-to-skin contact to regulate her temperature, breathing and heartbeat. "I almost didn’t want to do it. I felt like this was something meant for my wife, especially after everything she went through." Rosalie expressed, "He’s very kind, very soft-hearted and wants to help everyone around him" and explained that the moment in the hospital was how Jake usually behaved.
