Sometimes, a person might have to listen to their gut, even if it seems difficult. A mom who was told that her daughter had a deformity at her 20-week pregnancy scan had to make such a choice, too. The woman, Georgia Lloyd-Sutton, was told that she could abort her baby, but she decided to continue with her pregnancy. Five years later, the mom was happy that she had made the decision not to abort her baby. She posted her story on her TikTok page, where she goes by @georgials00. The post received over 447,000 views.

"At your 20-week abnormality scan, the sonographer will tell you your baby will be born with a cleft lip and palate and then ask if you want to continue with her pregnancy," the mom wrote, with a photo of her scan. She also shared photos of her baby as a newborn, as well as her current photos. "It is very important you say yes." The woman remarked, "My perfect little girl always." The girl had no signs of a cleft lip anymore. In the caption, the mom explained, "After having further genetic testing, we were still asked that question...the sonographer did not ask that question." She also shared a disclaimer that said, "This is not a dig at the professionals, it's just me showing off my beautiful little girl."

Georgia told Newsweek that it was her first pregnancy and she knew something was wrong when the sonographer asked if a cleft lip ran in the family. "My heart sank as I knew then that something was wrong." Doctors told the mom that a cleft lip and palate could be a sign of other genetic conditions like Down syndrome, Patau syndrome and Edwards syndrome in the baby. "I was so shocked, as, at that time, I could start to feel her move and see and hear her heartbeat. I was heartbroken," the mom recounted. She went through further testing to understand what conditions her baby might have, to be prepared for everything. The cleft lip was not a sign of a more serious condition in the girl's case, according to the outlet.

The girl, Paisley, went through three surgeries as a baby to repair her cleft lip and palate. Now she just has to visit the dentist and get surgical check-ups in a routine manner. The mom was really grateful to have her daughter in her life. "I know every mother may say it about their own child, but she truly is the best. She is so bright, funny and caring, maybe just a little bit sassy." She continued, "Paisley has had a few sessions with the speech and language team, but they have no further concerns. She has hit all of her milestones, not just as a cleft baby but as a 5-year-old too."

People in the comments section of the post were glad that the mom's decision turned out to be right. @cheezypepe wrote, "I am crying. Our cleft lip baby is due in March. Your daughter is beyond beautiful and brave and this is what I needed to see to know that everything will be okay with our baby boy. Bless you and your family." @lilyjarrett7 commented, "My nephew and partner have a cleft lip. It's my favorite thing about them. So cute and unique." The woman often shares her family life on the page. In one video, she shared her Christmas tree decorations for the year.
