Ring Doorbell camera captures woman frantically pounding on neighbor's door—it helped them escape disaster by minutes

An Arizona woman named Carolyn Palisch is being hailed a hero for rushing into action after noticing her neighbors in danger, reported 23ABC News. The woman spotted something unusual when she was getting ready and rushed to her neighbor’s home in Avondale. She frantically knocked on their door with repeated and hard pounding and woke up one of the residents, Nicole Salgado, CNN stated. It was this very act that helped save the life of the entire family just moments before something destructive struck.

Palisch was getting dressed early in the morning when she saw something worrisome from her window. The Ring Doorbell Camera footage captured the woman in her robe knocking frantically on the Salgados’. The parents and their four kids were fast asleep on New Year’s Day around 7.30 in the morning. “We hear banging on our door and our doorbell is going off and we kind of get scared,” the mom recalled. When her husband went to open the door, the couple was met with shocking news from Palisch. “He opened the door and all I heard was our neighbor Carolyn saying, 'Your house is on fire, you have to get out',” Salgado said.

“We didn't hear anything, we didn't smell anything,” Nicole remarked. There was no time to think and so the parents got their kids and their pets and vacated the house immediately. The neighbor waited with the family and ensured all got out safely. “Then once we realized the full extent of it, we were just in shock as we watched our home burn,” she added. The mom shared a video on TikTok revealing what followed. Within minutes, the house was filled with smoke and its roof collapsed. The firefighters who arrived on the scene noted that if the family had to be in there a little longer, they would have passed out due to inhalation of the smoke and the roof would have collapsed with them inside.

“We are so grateful to this angel who saved our lives,” she wrote in the text overlay. Palisch, however, was delighted to be of help. Having been a nurse, she considered it her duty to be of assistance. She said, “You hope that you've always done good for everyone, but to actually see the result and to see them alive and well, you can't ask for anything better.” The family was eventually okay but lost everything in the fire. They set up a GoFundMe and within days, saw overwhelming support from the community. They were able to raise funds for a new beginning.

In an update, they shared, “Every day the realness sinks in more and more and I don’t know what we would have done if she (Carol) wasn’t our neighbor.” The mom noted that she had no other way to repay the woman than to be grateful. “If it wasn’t for her, it’d be a totally different story. We feel so thankful to her. We’re always going to consider her family. She not only saved us, she saved our kids,” she remarked.
