Sometimes, a few good things might come out of scary incidents. For one family, it was the bond their daughter made with a firefighter who responded after her lawn mower accident. The girl, Adrianna, faced severe injuries because of the incident and spent quite some time recovering from it. But right on the scene of the horrifying moment, she formed a special friendship with the firefighter, Ricky Powell, who had come in to help the girl and her family, per Atlanta News First.

When Powell got a call about the accident involving the 8-year-old girl, he was really worried about her. "I was nervous — I was a wreck when I got on the scene. And she wasn’t even scared. She’s the strongest little girl I know," the firefighter pointed out. Powell worked tirelessly to make sure that Adrianna's injuries were attended to and that she reached the hospital on time. The girl's worried parents were very grateful for all that Powell did to make sure that their little girl was okay. The incident happened earlier this year. As Powell performed his duty, he also interacted with Adrianna to make her feel better and ended up deciding on a secret handshake with her as well.

"Adrianna was really the true hero that day. I couldn’t have made it through that call without her," Powell told the outlet. The girl spent quite some time at the hospital as she recovered from a major injury to her leg. Eventually, the girl could go back to school with a cast on her leg. As the firefighter felt a unique connection with his new little friend, he decided to show up at her school with a special gift to make her day. He presented her flowers and gifts on behalf of the Douglas County Fire Department. Adrianna kept those flowers to have something to remember the special gesture by. "I want her to remember that she always has people behind her. Because she’s a very special little girl," Powell went on.

Adrianna also got a chance to meet Powell once again and surprise him at his workplace. The man was really surprised to see the little girl running towards him, yelling "surprise." She then gave the firefighter a big hug as a thank you for helping her through the injury and the recovery. The man was really happy to see her once again and Adrianna was all happy about surprising Powell, who must have thought that she was "at school." The girl gave him a greeting card and called him the "best man and bro." She asked Powell if he still remembered their special handshake and the man could recall it a little bit as they shook hands with each other.

The firefighter pointed out that he had to do something special for the little girl who was so brave while facing the harrowing situation. So he decided to get those flowers for her on her first day back to school. "Everybody who knows me knows I have a soft spot for kids. Adrianna is very special, so I definitely had to give her the flowers," Powell continued. Adrianna's leg had been healing well, as she could run around and jump when she went to meet Powell. "I think we should go have lunch together," Adrianna told Powell, who immediately agreed to it.
