Fear of flying is something that many people find extremely anxiety-provoking. Flight attendant Savannah (@savannah0191) was approached by a mother of a 25-year-old woman asking her to help her terrified daughter before she boarded her first flight. The worried mom shared that her daughter was so freaked out that they weren't sure if they'd make it. However, the flight attendant offered one exception that changed the entire journey and experience for her. Sharing on April 9, 2026, the woman revealed that these little yet significant things are exactly why she loves what she does for a living.

Savannah was approached by a woman who informed her that her 25-year-old daughter was having anxiety about flying. The mom just wanted to keep the attendant informed, but instead, the latter took a different approach. She went out of her way and requested that the authorities let the 25-year-old get in on the flight a few minutes earlier to make her feel comfortable. From thereon, she transformed her experience. She turned things around so magically that by the time other passengers had to board, the 25-year-old said something the attendant would never forget. "I prayed for someone like you." She also added that the day was going to be "one of the best," and seeing that transformation moved Savannah.

Right from walking her through the process, clearing all of her questions, giving her a tour of the cockpit, and introducing her to the pilots, she ensured she gave the young woman as much information as she could. The young woman later grew more confident about flying and thanked the flight attendant for making it possible. And it felt like the biggest reward. Savannah thanked the woman in return for showing her that it was okay to slow down or to be scared of things. Learning that lesson through the wholesome experience was rewarding to the attendant.

According to a study published in PMC, "Fear and anxiety are closely related, phylogenetically adaptive emotions, experienced in response to a near and imminent threat or a more distant and future threat, respectively." When people feel they have control and situations are not unambiguous, they later learn to reduce fear more effectively. And Savannah did just that, she took her through as many bits as possible so the young passenger was not blank or unaware of what would unfold throughout the flight. That simple factor made a huge difference. Despite severe anxiety over flying, the woman felt at ease due to her trust in the flight attendant, and her words in return will always stay close to Savannah's heart.
