There are several things students are taught at school as hard facts that often turn out to be incorrect later on. As adults, people realize that they can not really go by everything taught in school and have to fact-check things or form their own belief systems. So when u/Cdave_22 asked Reddit what was the one thing they were taught as a fact in school but has been "disproven" in their lifetime, many people shared unique facts that turned out to be either partially or completely incorrect. They started with one and wrote, "You can’t be successful without a college degree." This had been proven wrong for them.

Many others questioned the emphasis and importance given to cursive writing in school and the notion that hard work brings in equivalent rewards. Many people pointed out that the functioning of the government with "checks and balances" was not true, according to what they learned later in life. Here are 15 facts that were proven incorrect, according to people on the internet.
