10-year-old kicked out of the school bus for bullying kids — her dad had a unique approach to teach her a lesson

In most cases, bullying leaves a serious impact on the person at the receiving end. To tackle this grave issue, it is vital for parents to step ahead and address incidents where their kids bully other children. One dad from Ohio was adamant that he would not sweep his daughter's bullying "under the rug" after she was kicked off the school bus the second time for bullying another kid back in 2018. Eventually, the dad, Matt Cox, took a unique approach to teach his daughter a lesson she would never forget, per NBC4 Columbus.

"This lovely lady is my 10-year-old daughter, who has, for the second time in this school year has been kicked off the school bus due to bullying another student," Cox explained as he followed his daughter, Kirsten, in a car. Kirsten was walking to school with her bag as a punishment for bullying. She got home and told her dad that he would have to take her to school the next week. "So I decided that I am not going to be one of those parents who sweep under the rug and chalk it up as kids being kids," Cox expressed. The then-10-year-old walked to school for 5 miles to ensure that the incident would not happen again.
"Good morning...Happy Monday, everyone," Cox said as he drove behind Kirsten. "Well, it is a happy Monday for some of us," he added. "Let me make this extremely clear: bullying is unacceptable," he pointed out. The video of the incident he initially shared on Facebook garnered over 15 million views and thousands of comments, per BBC News. However, the video was deleted later. The family heard a lot of stories from those being bullied, and Cox admitted that "there wasn't a single dry eye in the house." Kirsten accepted her mistake and shared that she shouldn't have bullied the student on the bus. "I am doing what I feel is right to teach my daughter a lesson," Cox suggested.
After receiving mixed reactions to his video, Cox said, "I just want the kids to know that words truly do hurt. They cut very deep and have lasting effects. I hope that parents hold their kids accountable," per 13abc. Cox hoped that the video would inspire other parents to hold their kids accountable. On the other hand, the daughter promised that she would never bully anyone again. If she did, she would have to continue to walk to school. People shared their thoughts in the comments section of the channel's video. @paravoidy wrote, "Anyone calling this child abuse has lived a very sheltered and privileged life. This is what a father should be. Protective, but unwavering and stern. Love it."
@ProgrammingProAwire commented, "I think the father did the best. He taught her a lesson, and while 5 miles is quite a walk, at least he followed her in case something happened. This father is one of the best parents out there." @julieburton192 remarked, "Well done, Dad. I am 58 years old, and still feel the pain of bullying when I was at school back in the 70s/80s. Those who bullied me were ignored and almost applauded for what they put me through. You are doing the right thing and teaching your daughter well. She will have a better life because of this lesson, as well as the victims."
