TikTok user Chi, who goes by @doseofchi, shared a post on July 23, 2026, revealing how a man persisted in taking her out on a date after matching with her on an online platform in 2021. While he reached out multiple times, he made no effort and expected her to accommodate his plans. When she refused, he added her to his story just to make her jealous. However, things took an unexpected turn.

Chi mentioned that she lived in Fort Worth, and he lived in Plano, Texas. The man planned the two dates near his place, expecting her to make a 45-minute drive, but she refused. When she said no a second time, he added her to his close friends on social media and posted a story of a candlelight dinner, adding, “This could have been you.” For the woman, it felt like a targeted post, but she ignored it. When he reached out to her a third time, he invited her to a trip to Jamaica for his birthday. She refused again, saying that if she couldn’t make it for a date, there was no way she would go on a vacation with a stranger. He took another woman instead. A week later, he called her up, sobbing and terrified, about his mother being in a dangerous situation.
The man started murmuring on the phone while crying his eyes out. Chi, who was on her way to work, got concerned and, being an empath, asked what happened. He mentioned that his mom was in Nigeria, and there was a massacre taking place, and he couldn’t get through to her. The woman wondered why he hadn’t called the person whom he had taken on the trip instead of contacting her. Yet, she chose to be kind and listen to him. He admitted he was worried sick about his mother. Chi assured him she would pray for her, and by lunchtime, he shared that she was safe.
There was no contact thereafter, but what left the woman surprised was that after acting so dismissive, he chose to reach out to her when he needed comfort. Another shocker was that his mother was all the way in Nigeria at the time, so there was no way she’d be able to help, making his call even more questionable.
