Kid steals plant from stranger’s home for pet tortoise, then makes up for it with the cutest note and $5

Kids have a unique sense of perception and understanding. Their actions are driven by what they understand and not by what is right or wrong. A man, who goes by @narttnecniv on X, shared an adorable post about a kid who stole a plant from his parent’s home. They wanted to get a pet tortoise and hence took the plant. However, they made up for it morally and wholeheartedly and people can’t help but forgive the tiny tot. “Some kid stole a plant from my parents’ house but felt bad so they came back and left this cute little note with $5,” the caption of the post read.

The man attached a handwritten letter along with a $5 note from the kid. From the first word to the last one in the letter, there is only adorable honesty and precious innocence to be found. “Dear family,” the kid began. They went on to apologize for the plant that they stole. “I wasn’t thinking at the time how bad that was. Now, I realize that it doesn’t matter what I stole but that I stole,” they wrote. Acknowledging that they were in the wrong, the kid noted, “I would like to pay whoever grew the plant with $5.” They once again apologized and very sweetly added that they were sorry they didn’t have “the guts to tell you in person.”

The child further mentioned that they’d like to know what type of plant it was. “If you would like to tell me, you can drop off a letter by my house,’ they said while mentioning their address. In conclusion, they justified their action and said, “The reason I took it was to give it to my pet tortoise to eat but she didn’t even like it anyway.” The letter stood beside a crumpled $5 note that was adorably given to make up for the person’s effort growing the plant, not the plant itself. Mesmerized by the kid’s adorable stature, the man added in a thread, “My mom doesn’t even know which plant they took. I should drop off some food for their tortoise for being so honest.”
Several people were in awe of the child’s thoughtful letter. They commended how he came through and owned up to his mistake—even if it seemed like his parents may have driven him to do so. @heatherbethc said, “This definitely seems like his parents caught him and made him write an apology note.” @teeeeeech added, “Good parenting here. Clearly, the parents had him write this note and use his own money. But he did it and it was the right thing to do. He should be forgiven with a lesson learned, hopefully. Sweet story. Refreshing to read.” @villaintexas remarked, “He was just trying to feed its turtle baby.” Many even chuckled at his excessive honesty about the tortoise not liking the plant. @AlbertaMia4537 noted, “I think the kid deserves some award.” @pOtatoesrlyfe said, “Please bring the kid something.”
