Labor nurse walked in on 16-year-old crying after having a baby—then returned with a note that changed the teen's life

Having a baby can be both exciting and overwhelming. So when a 16-year-old became a mom for the first time, she was also very overwhelmed when her nurse walked in on her crying. Two years later, the woman, Madison Nicole, who had a baby for the second time at 18, shared a note the nurse had left her after she saw the new mom cry. Although Madison, who goes by @maddie_nicole1212 on TikTok, never saw the nurse again, that one message shifted her whole perspective. The post received over 1.7 million views.

The nurse, April, left a note for Madison while she was sleeping at the hospital. The note assured the teen that she was doing a great job and being a new mom can be overwhelming for anyone. It read, "Just a friendly reminder that you are doing a great job! Being a new mom can be really overwhelming. Please know it's totally normal to feel that way." She explained that the mom and her "sweet boy" will get over the "feeding hump" and would do great. "I can tell you love him very much and want the best for him," the nurse went on. "He is very lucky to have you! Be confident in yourself and don't be scared to ask for help." April pointed out that every new mom needed help, especially in the first few weeks.

The nurse signed off with, "I know you are going to do amazing. Your nursery nurse, April." In the caption, the mom explained how the nurse was kind to her in even more ways. "She also fed him and marked what time and how many ounces for me while I slept." Madison is now set to start nursing school in January and strives to be like the kind nurse who helped her that day. Many people appreciated the nurse's kind gesture in the comments section of the post. The nurse, April Pamin, came across the post, too and reached out through the comments.
@aprilpamin2 wrote, "Aww, Hi Maddie! So glad to see that you are doing so well. Scrolling through your page, I can see that I was right and you are doing a great job as a mom. Good luck in nursing school! If you need anything, just reach out." @user7747111 commented, "Fellow nurse here. My son's father left us in the hospital and I too was crying. My nurse came in and said let's get you showered. At the end, I said to her, 'Why are you taking such good care of me?' She said, 'Because I have an 18-year-old daughter, too.' A few years later, I started my journey to become a nurse. You are going to be a great nurse."

@insertnamehere_44 remarked, "This reminds me of when I was 17 and my baby's dad and his mom thought that they got to call the shots. My main L&D nurse knew that I didn't want his mom there. When it was time to push, the nurse gave me a thumbs up and without asking, told her to get out. She couldn't even object; the nurse had her out so fast. I think about that nurse almost weekly. Bless that woman." Madison often shares sneak peeks of her family on her TikTok page. In one video, she shared a video of her now 2-year-old son going down the slide in a play area.
