Many parents try to pick creative and meaningful costumes for their little ones. One mom simply wanted to include her then two-year-old's beloved corgis in her Halloween costume somehow. So the mom, Katelyn Sutherland, dressed her daughter, Jalayne, as late Queen Elizabeth II back in 2021. The little girl donned the late queen's signature outfit for her Halloween photos with the biggest smile on her face in her mom's Facebook photos. However, the mom had no idea that her daughter's Halloween costume would get a huge nod from Windsor Castle, per CNN US.

In the photos, Jalayne was dressed in an all-blue dress and a hat of the same color to match the queen. She also donned pearls, stockings and an ivory purse. Her two corgis stood on either side as an integral part of the entire look. Katelyn's son was dressed as Superman in the photos. The caption read, "Queen Elizabeth II and her corgis! And of course Superman!" The girl seemed to be enjoying her day in her creative Halloween costume. People expressed their love for the costume in the comments section of the post. Many of them also suggested that the mom should send Jalayne's photo to Windsor Castle. The queen was not doing well at that time and people hoped that it would cheer her up.

Jean Renelle Johnson Sparrow wrote, "Oh, my goodness! You should send her this picture! She has been sick and I bet it would cheer her up to see this adorable picture." Cathy Toole commented, "Okay, Queen Elizabeth and corgis are the most original costumes of the year! Too cute!" Debbie Huff remarked, "Super cute! I agree, we need to try to figure out how to show this to someone who can show Queen Elizabeth!" In a comment, the mom shared, "Thanks everyone! If anyone figures out a way to send the picture to the queen, let me know, and I'll do it, lol. Jalayne absolutely loved this costume. Didn't want to take off the hat at all and was obsessed with carrying her purse around! Never wanted to let it go! The pups were proud to sit next to their Queen."

The Kentucky mom eventually managed to send the photos to the queen, per CNN. However, she hadn't expected that the queen would actually see it and respond to it. The family got a response on December 27, 2021, through the mail. "It was mixed in with our other mail. I had to calm myself down and make sure not to rip the envelope," the mom recounted. The letter was sent on 9th December that year and the queen's then lady-in-waiting, Mary Morrison, wrote to the family and explained how the queen had thanked them for the photo and the letter. "Her Majesty thought it kind of you to write to her and The Queen was pleased to see the photograph of your daughter, Jalayne, in her splendid outfit."

The queen wished the family a Merry Christmas. There was also information about the royal dogs enclosed in the letter. Katelyn shared that she picked the outfit because of the love her daughter has for the corgis, Rascal and Jack. "Ever since Jalayne was born, the two corgis have been best friends with her. Especially since she started eating and sneaking them food, they loved her even more." She added, "When you think of corgis, you most certainly think of the Queen." The mom had decided to frame the letter and put it on the living room wall until Jalayne was old enough to keep it.
