Maid of honor joked she was 'single and waiting at the bar' in her sister’s wedding toast — one groomsman heard it, and things took an unexpected turn
Watching your sister get married is such a blissful feeling. But after Hannah Heiss' (@Hannah_Heiss) sister was officially off the market, she knew it was her turn to find her soulmate. The 27-year-old, who was giving her maid of honor speech, ended it with a hilarious twist, quipping that she was single and ready to be taken. However, unbeknownst to Hannah, her fun and bold toast was going to be paid off real quick after it grabbed the attention of a groomsman. Reported by PEOPLE on Thursday, February 26, 2026, Hannah's heartfelt speech had online users rooting for her.
Florida resident Heiss' sister Amanda Flanagan, 29, and Phil Flanagan, 31, exchanged their vows on Valentine's Day at Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club. When Heiss was asked to give the maid of honor speech, she was initially nervous. She knew that she wanted to end the speech talking about her singlehood and hence sought the newlyweds' permission to make the fun twist. In the video posted by the TikTok user, she quipped that she had become a third wheel ever since her sister found her match. Taking the opportunity, she declared that she was single and was ready to be asked out. "Sign me up, I'll be by the bar," she said in the video. Her video gained massive traction, and it caught the attention of one of the groomsmen. Speaking to outlet, she shared, "There may have been a little something with a groomsman." Heiss revealed that she may be visiting him in New York soon.
The 160 guests who watched her giving the speech burst out laughing at her sense of humor, with a person also heard saying, "Isn't she adorable." Heiss had a rough dating life and had been single for a year and a half. However, her video gained massive attention from TikTok users with many eligible bachelors leaving flirty comments under her post. @Griselda wrote, "This is probably the only maid of honor speech that I have ever seen that was funny cute and not awkward at all." @Stevielarks commented, "I'm not just a brother, I'm also a coworker, a cousin, some would even say, a long lost friend." @ellafernandez shared, "The ultimate manifestation. This is so good Han hahaha."
Hannah's speech reminds us of a best man speech by the groom's brother who left all the attendees bursting out laughing with his two decade-old paintball story that revolved around the groom. He shared that when he was eight, he begged to join his older brother and a friend for paintball but was not allowed. In frustration, he grabbed his paintball gear anyway and went after them. He revealed that he picked up some of his brother's paintballs and threw them at the neighbor's house. Unfortunately, his parents and neighbors blamed his older brother because the paintball colors didn't match what the friend was using, which led to the older brother ending up cleaning the mess. During the speech, the groom and his friend looked stunned and laughed as they learned the secret for the first time.
