Man bragged about ditching a woman he called ‘fat’ through an emergency exit — then his next date made sure he felt the same humiliation
First dates give people the opportunity to learn more about each other through their small talk, gestures, values, and so on. A woman recently shared how a dinner outing that seemed great initially took an uncomfortable turn when the man bragged about leaving a "fat" person using a bathroom excuse during a blind date. Threads user Kirsten Baker later recounted the story in a post shared on Sunday, May 31, 2026, through the username @nursekeeks1. The pair met at a local restaurant, ordered drinks, and seemed to be getting along well. However, the mood shifted when he started acting proud of his previous antics, and she had a fitting response.
During the conversation, the man told Baker, “I’m so glad you’re not fat or ugly,” a remark that immediately made her uncomfortable. He then recalled meeting a woman on a blind date and claimed he was unhappy because she was overweight. He added that he lied about using the restroom, and "took the emergency exit" to escape from the meetup midway. When she heard his story and how he was delighted about his actions, she was disgusted. She collected her handbag, excused herself to the washroom, and left without saying another word. Instead of explaining or calling him out, she chose to give him a taste of his own medicine.
She later recalled sitting with the comment for a moment before deciding how she wanted to respond. She changed the topic, but the words remained with her. The decision also marked an important personal victory for her because she viewed it as standing up for herself instead of remaining silent to avoid conflict. Looking back, she described the experience as a proud example of overcoming her self-doubt and people-pleasing habits. Many internet users later also joined in, praising Baker for her sassy move and for teaching the man a lesson. @ewillis7 wrote, "The really hilarious thing is not only did he out himself as a walking red flag, but he gave you a road map on how to ditch him!" @bourbon_and_starlight exclaimed, "Great story! Dude probably still didn't understand what went wrong." @discomaegan joked, "I love when men snatch defeat out of the arms of victory."
Sometimes the only way to deal with a rude date is to make a firm comeback. In another incident, a woman shared how a man tried to test her with a 'three-day rule' to judge her reaction. During their meeting, he said, “I like to ask trick questions,” and then asked what she would do if he did not text for three days. He expected a certain answer, but she replied she would simply enjoy her peace. He then said it was the “wrong” response and explained he would prefer a partner who would reach out and check on him during that time. She calmly said, “I would need someone who wouldn't disappear for three days,” which changed the mood. Realizing the game, she stood up and told him, “You just failed your own test,” before walking away.
