The man first began pushing her seat soon after takeoff. After putting up with it for one or two hours, Fariza turned around and politely asked him to stop. He agreed, but soon started again. When she reclined her seat to get comfortable, he pushed it harder and told her to put it upright. Fariza pointed out that the passenger in front of her had also reclined his seat, but the man continued. His actions became more aggressive, leaving her seat shaking. She finally raised her voice and reminded him, "I paid for this seat, and I have the right to recline it!" A flight attendant noticed the argument and spoke to the man.
