The internet felt that the toddler's kind response reflected how her mom treated her when she was in distress.

Children might feel and understand more than what adults give them credit for. A little girl showed that she had some idea of what her mom was going through as she silently offered her comfort. The mom was crying on the floor after losing her friend and was really surprised at her toddler's little action. She was glad to have her daughter with her while going through a difficult time because of that one gesture. The woman, Kenna, who goes by @kennathemom on TikTok, shared the compassionate moment with the platform.

"I had just found out that my friend passed away..." the text overlay of the video read as the mom sat down on the kitchen floor, sobbing. She cried with her face in her hands as her toddler watched her from a distance. The child looked confused for a moment as she had never seen her mom cry like that ever before. But then she walked into the living room and picked up a blanket to give to her mom. "She uses her blanky for comfort," Kenna revealed. Her daughter hoped that the blanky would give some comfort to her grieving mom as well. She put it on her mom and went to her to give her a big hug. The surprised mom looked at her daughter once before she started crying more.

The little girl tried to sit with her mom, who readily held her close to find comfort. The caption to the video read, "Our children truly feel more than we know. I thank God every day for my girl. The comfort she brings is indescribable." The clip received more than 4.6 million views and over 1.1 million likes. Most children can identify grief and tend to act out their feelings instead of expressing themselves verbally, according to Child Bereavement UK. Even babies can feel an emotionally-charged atmosphere and would react to the same, per the outlet. People shared their thoughts on the little girl's compassionate response in the comments section of the video.

@kaykindagay wrote, "Toddlers only know how to treat people based on how they have been treated. Her immediate response means she knows EXACTLY what mama would do in this situation." @nicaarts commented, "I can tell just by how sweetly and empathetically she responded to your distress, that you are EXACTLY the right kind of person to be a parent. The world needs more of you." @tisotaz remarked, "She knows how to comfort you because she has been taught by your thorough comfort of her. What a testimony to your love as a mother. I hope you find peace through all of this."

@newyawwwker shared, "I work in an infant room. Our older infants will pick up who uses pacis so when they start to cry, they’ll try to find that child’s paci and give to them cause they know they’ll stop crying." Another user expressed, "This was me when my cousin died suddenly. My toddler couldn't see me bawling like that. He was so sweet." @victoria.elizabeth2003 pointed out, "Toddlers are mirrors of how parents interact with their children. She showed you kindness because you have shown her kindness. You have done a fantastic job mama."
