Mom noticed something off in the babysitter’s photo of her sleeping son — then the next picture confirmed her worst fear

When the mom received the second photo from the childminder, she immediately went to pick her son up from the babysitter.

Parents trust babysitters with their children, hoping they'll take good care of them, but parental instincts are always stronger than every other feeling. Mom and Instagram user Kathy (@kathy.noh) sent her 11-month-old toddler to a childminder, or babysitter, and received a photo of her son sleeping, which immediately raised suspicion. When she asked for another picture, one detail in it prompted her to go get her son instantly. Sharing the experience with Instagram followers on January 29, 2026, the mother encouraged parents to follow their instincts and be cautious when it comes to trusting others with their kids.

Kathy had been sending her 11-month-old son to a childminder, who regularly sent pictures of the toddler sleeping. However, one day, immediately after she dropped the kid off, she received a photo of her son sleeping, which resembled the one sent on the first day. Although on both days the kid had been wearing the same onesie, the mother noted that the sleeping cover also looked the same. However, the gray one she had originally sent on the first day was taken back for washing, so it didn't make sense. When she asked the childminder to send another picture, her suspicions were confirmed. In the second photo, she sent the same image as before, but just flipped it, so it appeared that the boy had turned over and was asleep. Kathy, who realized that her son's babysitter had been lying, immediately told her that she'd be picking him up.

The mom gave the sitter the benefit of the doubt and confronted her about the picture. However, she refused and lied again, saying she had also purchased a gray cover just like the one the mom had. She then lied by sending the same picture flipped to the other side, claiming it to be new one. After Kathy noted the issue and told the sitter she'd be coming in to take her baby, the woman got defensive and protested that the mom was "questioning her integrity." However, she did not back down and was certain she would never send her son back. Shaken by the incident, she asked fellow parents what they'd have done in this situation. After the video blew up, the mother revealed in a comment that she had reported the woman. "I have reported her, so hopefully she won’t lie anymore. The biggest lesson learnt is to trust our gut! Love to all mamas out there," she wrote.

Maternal instincts are never wrong. Parents send their kids to babysitters and childminders, hoping that their children will remain safe with them. However, lying to the parents breaches trust and automatically becomes a red flag. While the babysitter may have wanted to show the parents that her kid settled down quickly, possibly to earn some brownie points for her job, lying to the parents cost her. @lucylouslifex wrote, "'You are questioning my integrity?' 'Yes, that's exactly what I'm doing, now I'm taking my son.' Well done, you did the right thing." @dr_finbirn noted, "I would have done exactly what you did. The fact that she got angry about it, too, speaks volumes. Trust your instincts!" @terri_fashion shared, "Mama instincts! You did the right thing. Don't give up hope. Just take your time to settle and look for someone else when you are ready. Sending hugs, mama. Well done. You are doing great."
