Having many kids or members in the family can be a challenging task for homemakers. Preparing meals is one of the most hectic tasks of the day for them. While getting a healthy and balanced meal is financially straining, considering options and variety is equally burdensome. In such cases, smart shopping and prepping are the go-to methods. A mom named Amanda (@amandajmaze) shared a video on TikTok revealing how she organizes meals for her family of 7. The woman shared a realistic $150 grocery haul that can offer healthy and filling meals for a week. The mom mentioned that despite the economy and struggles, she has managed to keep the grocery shopping under $150 per week.

As she spilled the beans on her methods, she laid out several bags of food and other items she shopped and it was surprisingly a lot. Sharing her kitchen items, the mom mentioned that she has meal plans set before she can go shopping. She explained that she makes a list of the items for the meals and generally has quite a few ingredients already at home. Sharing the variety of items she picked, the mom also mentioned the meals she planned to prepare with them. Laying out eggs, cheese, salmon, spinach, mushrooms, and so on, Amanda highlighted how ingredients can be mixed and matched to add variety to simple meals.

“I’m gonna make egg muffins. I’ve got cheese, bacon bits, spinach and eggs,” the mom noted. She added up mac and cheese and a few simple items to make the meal balanced. For the next meal, the mom picked potatoes, salmon, chicken bites and mac and cheese. “Then we have rice. One night we’re just going to have salad and chicken,” Amanda added. With different types of veggies to add, the mom explained how a simple salad can be a filling and delicious healthy meal. Next up, the mom added simple bite-sized items to make "adult Lunchables.” These included sausages, pepperoni, carrots, and a few other items. The mom’s go-to idea was to use simple yet healthy items and add different elements to make the dish rich in flavor and fill up her family’s tummy.

Using the $150 frugally, the mom even spared a few dollars to get fruits, drinks and other snackables. These items also consisted of bread, yogurt, granola bars and so on. Amanda ensured that her grocery shopping was under $150 by planning smart and healthy meals and then lining out the ingredients for the same. Purchasing the right ingredients is the trick here. Nothing fancy, all simple items combined to make full-fledged meals. Several parents were stunned to see how well the mom balanced the budget for ingredients to cover all nutritional and taste requirements.

@kwcreates remarked, “Finally, someone shopping smart and getting their money’s worth.” @caitlin_g added, “Very nice haul. I do the same when it comes to rotating pantry foods.” @texteachersab wrote, “Mine is a little more, $200 per week but I have two big teen boys that eat. The key is to shop your pantry and freezer. Plan your meals and cook from scratch with little prepared food.” @arshepp said, “People think I’m crazy for feeding a family of 6 with $175 a week - organic and preservative free. It’s possible!”
