Mom spotted a strange detail on her adopted daughter's bracelet — realized she is related to her adopted son by blood

Some situations can only be explained as pure coincidences or miracles. A foster mom witnessed such a miracle when she realized that her adopted daughter was actually related by blood to her adopted son. The woman, Katie, had no idea about her adopted son's birth mother, as nobody came forward when he was a baby. Just a year later, a newborn girl was placed with her and Katie was surprised by what she found on the girl's bracelet. The mom shared her entire story on her blog, Wood and Grace.

She had dreamed of becoming a mom for the longest time, but things turned out to be something that she had never imagined. Katie went as far as to say that her family had come together by "divine intervention." She had gone through a divorce in 2014 in her thirties when she bought a fixer-upper and changed her job. The woman had been working on the house herself and felt that she needed "more." She received an email about a session on foster care from the pastor of her church when she was in the middle of fixing her house. "I proceeded to ask my mother who was helping me with the renovations, 'Would you go with me to this informational session about foster care?'…. She said, 'WHAT?'"

Her mother tried to discourage her because she already had enough on her hands, but they ended up going nonetheless. "After lots of contemplation, on Mother’s Day of 2015, I completed my application and took the next step to becoming a foster mom and beginning a new adventure." A year later, she was with her fourth foster child and had started thinking about long-term placement, or even adoption. She got a call about a baby boy who had been abandoned at the hospital a few weeks later. "He had drug exposure, but was not showing signs of withdrawal and would be ready to discharge the next day." She ended up taking him in and nobody came forward for the baby.
She couldn't find anything about the boy's parents in the next 11 months. She adopted him legally after that and felt both relief and sadness for her son, Grayson. "Grayson struggles both developmentally and physically from his drug exposure, so while I knew our family was not complete yet, I decided I should wait until he was at least a year and a half before taking in another longer-term placement." She had hoped that she would get a girl this time. "Less than two weeks after the adoption, I received a call from my caseworker in the middle of the work day." The person talked about a 4-day-old baby girl born in the same hospital as her son, who needed emergency placement. Soon enough, the baby came home.
"As I reviewed the bracelets on the baby girl, I saw that the first name of her mother matched the name Grayson’s mother had given to the hospital," Katie recounted. After she looked at the similar birth dates of the moms, the woman had an intuition that her kids might have the "same mother." The babies looked entirely different, but the mom felt that it could still be a possibility. She got in touch with the biological mom through her caseworker as she wanted to see her daughter. After a few questions about her kids, Katie was sure that the woman was her son's mother, too. "She gave me small insights into her life that broke my heart. She was beautiful, just like my son."
Her caseworker met the kids' biological mom and then called her shortly after. "'Katie, I think you’re right! Her story literally breaks my heart and I can’t believe it, but I am 90% sure that you are right and this is a miracle.' About 45 minutes later, she called me back and said, 'Katie, now I am 100% sure. We just found the last name she gave with Grayson’s birth for a relative of Baby Girl.'" Katie added, "It is a sheer miracle, once in a lifetime chance… call it what you will, but it is amazing that my children found each other." After 13 months of adopting the girl, the mom ended up taking in their baby brother, too, and hoped she would be able to keep the siblings together.
