Attention to detail in the case of children's health and personal health can make a huge difference in certain situations. So when a mom unexpectedly noticed a tick in her daughter's eyelash while clicking a picture, the outcome changed drastically. The woman, Alessandra Paiusco, who goes by @la.tuttologa on TikTok, shared that her family had gone out and she had checked herself and her kids for ticks, but found one on her daughter only the morning after. Her PSA received over 499,100 views on the platform.

"I had no idea we were three in this picture," the mom wrote in the text overlay of her selfie with her daughter. She put a zoomed-in image of the tick in her daughter's lash and it was stuck there. The caption read, "Your daily reminder to always check for ticks literally everywhere. Shoutout to the nurses at the Akuten in Tierp for helping my baby. Just took two hours, three people and many tears." The 33-year-old woman was on a holiday at a farm an hour outside Uppsala, Sweden, with her parents before she noticed the tick in her daughter, Olympia's eye. per Newsweek. "We went to the woods to pick blueberries. I was melting looking at the children bonding while eating berries."

Alessandra also checked herself and her children for ticks thoroughly after they came back, but she didn't find anything at that time. But the next morning, she found one lodged in her daughter's lash line. The blood-sucking parasites found in woods and grassy areas can often cause Lyme disease and tick-borne encephalitis, which are serious illnesses. "I was honestly shocked and to be completely honest with you, grossed out too," the mom admitted. She confirmed if it was actually a tick with the farm's owner and then took her daughter to the nearest healthcare centre, per their suggestion. Ticks can be removed at home, but because of the location in the 1-year-old's case, she had to be taken to the hospital.

"Even if I took the necessary precautions to avoid ticks, it must've been jumping around, maybe from clothes or the car onto the baby's eye overnight," Alessandra went on. "Olympia was understandably terrified, so we had to hold her still." It wasn't the easiest thing to remove the tick from her eye. The mom and the nurses were finally able to hold the baby down and remove the tick with the help of the doctor's tweezers. "She didn't notice until we needed to take it out, but she got a cute zebra from the nurse, so she was over it quickly." The woman continued, "Ticks can carry diseases that can show symptoms later on, so if you present symptoms and you've been enjoying the outdoors, it's important to remember to tell it to your GP because it could be a tick-related illness."

People appreciated the PSA and shared their own experiences in the comments section of the video. @r_cul wrote, "My son had a tick at the same place, but it was tiny. So I got it off myself with a tick remover." @anilla_n83 commented, "I had a bug right inside my ear. I could feel it crawling. It was like a loud scratch echoing in my head." @simmer_.ali remarked, "Never saw one in that location before." In one of the comments, the mom shared that no one at the hospital had seen a tick at that spot before, either. The creator shared more about ticks in another post.
