NFL rising star and wife surprise the internet by donating all of their wedding gifts and money to the homeless

Some traditions can turn into kind gestures and good deeds. A Patriots Quarterback and his wife did the same with their wedding gifts as they decided to donate all of them to homeless people. The quarterback, Drake Maye, got married to his middle school sweetheart, Ann Michael Hudson, on June 21 this year. The couple hadn't made any official announcement about what they were going to do with their wedding gifts on social media, even after they shared pictures of the ceremony in North Carolina, per Sports Illustrated.

All the gifts, including money and other goods, went to a local homeless shelter in North Carolina. Patriots broadcaster and former backup quarterback, Scott Zolak, shared the news on 98.5 The Sports Hub, New England. "So the wedding gifts. He didn't tell anybody, and he had this supposed deal with his current wife that—they did a lot of donating with the local kids shelters and stuff for the area he grew up and some kids didn't have [the right] size shoes, didn't have some Christmas stuff—they didn't tell anybody, but they took their wedding gifts and sent them to the homeless and help centers down there," Zolak revealed the news on his show, Zolak and Bertrand.

The couple didn't keep anything for themselves out of everything they received at the wedding. "Everything that they got. They forwarded it," Zolak added. The couple had known each other since they were 12 years old and went to the same high school as well. Both of them went to the University of North Carolina, where Maye began his football career. Maye proposed to his now-wife in January this year, per PEOPLE. He went down on one knee during the sunset at a beach and prepared a flower-filled picnic to celebrate after Hudson said yes to his proposal.

Maye shared the pictures of the proposal on his Instagram, where he goes by @drake.maye and captioned the post, "Love doing life with you. Can’t wait to marry you!" A week after the wedding, Maye's wife, who goes by @annmichaelmaye on Instagram, shared several glimpses from the couple's special day. "1 week married to you calls for a little glimpse of the most special day. I love you!" the caption read. Even after many posts about the wedding, the good deed remained a secret from the couple's side.

In another story, homeless people returned a cop's kindness and donated every dollar they had after a beloved cop was killed in the line of duty, per CBS News. The 28-year-old woman was shot and was known for her kindness in her community. So, after her death, a homeless man turned up at the police station with a white envelope that had their donation. He shared that the cop, Seara Burton, often checked in on the homeless people and made sure that they were doing okay. The man and the other people who had donated the eight crumpled dollar one notes wished to remain anonymous. The envelope was handed to information clerk, Charlotte Jones, who appreciated the heartwarming gift. "I told him, 'This is like the most amazing gift that we have gotten,'" Jones recounted.
