Off-duty cop saw a disoriented man fall onto the train tracks and hit the SOS — what she did next left the platform frozen
A split-second decision can mean the difference between life and death. That’s exactly what happened when Catalonia’s police officer, Felisa Pozas, reacted instinctively on a busy metro platform, saving a stranger who fell onto the train tracks at the Barcelona metro station in Spain. The incident that happened in December was caught on security cameras, according to Sky News. The video posted by Mossos d’Esquadra has been going viral on the social media platform X (@mossos) and has garnered over 135,000 views.

In the video, Pozas was seen stopping on the platform when she noticed a man walking unsteadily nearby. He appeared to be confused and off balance, struggling to stay upright as he moved closer to the edge. She kept a close watch on him and seemed to ask if he was okay, but received no response. Pozas sensed danger and quickly pressed the platform’s SOS intercom to alert metro staff.
A few moments later, the man lost his footing and fell onto the tracks below. Without thinking even for a second, Pozas, an off-duty police officer, immediately jumped down onto the tracks to help him. Two other men, seeing all this, also stepped in. All three of them managed to lift the man back onto the platform. The emergency services later treated the man for minor injuries, and then he was taken to a nearby hospital.
“A police officer on the tracks of #metrobcn and Feli, off-duty, didn't hesitate for a second: she went down onto the tracks along with other people to rescue him. The use of the @TMB_Barcelona SOS intercom was also very important,” a spokesperson wrote on Twitter in a post translated from Catalan. Talking to Spain’s TVE, Pozas later said, “I didn't hesitate for a moment. I ran out and went down to the tracks with the intention of helping the man to try to prevent him from suffering further injuries.” Pozas’ actions are being widely praised; however, the authorities have urged the public to alert staff immediately in similar situations rather than jumping down themselves.
Transport NSW advised people to use the Emergency Help Point on platforms to stop trains. As the clip spread online, the viewers praised the woman’s courage and presence of mind. “Congratulations on their bravery and quick reaction. Also, to the guys who helped with the same efficiency,” noted @ITorredemer. @0Marialovemusic remarked, “Thanks, Feli. Many thanks for saving the life of this guy, whether he was drunk, drugged, mentally ill, etc. The important thing is to save lives. Thanks to all the people who helped the poor man, you are great!” “Gestures like this always help a little to make life not so painful and arduous,” penned @Delfipaula1.
