Employees working for any company under any position deserve basic respect and consideration. While rewarding or giving incentives like bonuses to employees, companies need to be mindful. The former needs to be planned based on employees’ needs and performances, something that will make them feel appreciated and acknowledged. A worker, u/MMS37 on Reddit, revealed that they were extremely disappointed after receiving their Christmas bonus. While the bonus is supposed to put a smile on employees’ faces, it did quite the opposite. u/MMS37, who worked at McDonald’s, left many people baffled after sharing the thoughtless and bland gift they received.

Sharing an image of the same, the employee revealed a McDonald’s bag with the company logo along with a movie ticket. While the description seems fine, the employee’s further revelations had many upset. “The bag is made from thick cardboard so it will disintegrate in the rain,” they said. It was further added that the movie ticket was of no use either. “A free cinema ticket is to use in another city,” the post explained. The employee added that it would be more expensive to get to the other city where the free ticket was valid than to get a movie ticket in the city they live in. It was embarrassing for the worker to show the so-called bonus.

“I work for one of the biggest companies in the world, this was my Christmas ‘bonus,’” they wrote in the caption. Many people were enraged at the offerings which were nothing short of disrespect. Many even called out the company for titling the same as a “bonus” when it is completely an unacceptable and selfish gift. u/ShockWave_Omega wrote, “It's been 24 years since I worked for McDonald's. Things have not gotten that much better it seems.” u/Glum_Material3030 said, “I despise these ‘perks’ of branded company merchandise. I would often rather have the $4 it costs!” u/CategoryKiwi added, “They're trying to make their employees into living advertisements. They should be (separately/additively) paying people to use that garbage.”

Several others said that this ruthless “gift” deserved an equally disappointing reaction. u/Stereotypicalguy1964 said, “When my job would give us ridiculous junk like this, we would immediately throw it in the nearest trash can or drop it on the boss’s desk the next time we were in the office.” u/savedavary added, “I’d put that straight in the trash.” u/forhekset666 remarked, “Bin this in front of your manager.” u/ehota said, "They gave you a piece to advertise their business. No thanks!”

Many recalled how insulting their “perks”  at work have been, thanks to the stone-hearted management. u/ShiftWorth5734 said, “I actually appreciate when my company just said f**k it and stopped doing Christmas bonuses altogether. It's actually more dignified than this insulting sh*t.” u/Numbsurprise remarked, “Your ‘bonus’ is that you get to run around giving us free advertising. Uh… no.” u/Amnesiaftw wrote, “Many places don’t give anything… but I would argue not getting anything is better than getting this.”
