Animals often show unusual behavior as a means of communicating something. We sometimes only realize later what they meant. In one such moment, a pet dog, Flo, kept staring at her pregnant owner, Charlotte Robertson (@charlottekellsrobertson), which slowly made her feel both curious and concerned. The behavior continued for days without any clear reason, making it hard to ignore. Sharing in a clip on March 20, 2026, the mom revealed that the dog’s actions were not random and that she was actually trying to communicate something to her pet parents before due time.

Robertson shared a video showing her baby bump with the text, “What was the first sign you were about to go into labor?” The following clip showed her dog closely watching her, with the answer simply being “my dog.” In her caption, she explained, “Our dog Flo would sit at my feet and stare at me all day long,” which stood out as unusual. Whether in her bed or in the living room, she kept her focus on the mom-to-be's baby bump. The woman later learned why the canine was so intently gazing at her. She was nearing her days of delivery. She went into labor about a week later, and it became evident why her beloved Flo was so concerned about her.

She also mentioned that this was not the first time her dog had acted this way. During her previous pregnancy, the dog showed similar attention. Robertson even shared, “It’s like they can sense it before we can,” pointing to a strong bond between pets and their owners. Sometimes, animals show us signs in ways we only understand in hindsight. Many people believe animals notice small changes that humans often miss, and this story seems to support that idea in a simple and real way. It’s simply amazing how attuned pets can be to our health and emotions.

Research suggests that animals can detect hormonal changes in the human body, including pregnancy, through scent and behavioral cues. A study by the National Library of Medicine explains that dogs have olfactory senses far stronger than humans. They use their strong sense of smell to detect chemical changes that produce a different bodily scent or odor in the body. This allows them to sense conditions like pregnancy, cancer, diabetes, and other illnesses. Unfortunately, they can't use words to caution us and have to turn to unusual actions that seem random.

This ability has been demonstrated in many other similar incidents as well. In another recent case, two sisters on a train were amazed when a guide dog seemed to sense that one of them was pregnant. The dog sniffed around her belly carefully and then rested its head gently on her bump. The other sister said, “I wanted to stroke him so bad. But you're not meant to stroke working/guide dogs.” She added, “The dog was obsessed with me. It was so lovely, but I felt rotten not being able to pet him.”

The moment showed how intuitive animals can be. The woman further mentioned, “My sister was nervous about distracting the dog,” yet the dog remained gentle and attentive. The sisters later remarked, “We don’t deserve dogs,” highlighting the special connection humans share with animals. Even while staying alert for its owner, the dog clearly recognized and reacted to the pregnancy, leaving both sisters touched and amazed. Reacting to Robertson's experience, @boguedigital said, "I was at the vet in labor because my dogs were acting so weird." @catdeimler added, "He’s staring at you like, 'You’re unusually calm about this.'" @ekaterina_dufour humored, "My dog started digging everywhere. Like I would use her nest to put my baby in there."
