Puppy wandered into workshop and urged person to follow her — she saved her mother and 10 siblings’ lives

There are many furry pals out there that don’t have homes but have families. Like human beings, they have an emotional connection and go through certain similar feelings as we do. They have strong instincts and look out for and express love for their loved ones. A little puppy named Depi learned of the need for her family’s safety and didn’t hesitate to act and help them, per Newsweek. The canine wandered around and managed to find help that transformed the lives of her 10 siblings and her mother. An account on TikTok, @itsrescueddepi, made by the owners, revealed how her story unfolded. 

According to a survey shared by Animal Daily Life, there are around 362 million homeless pets in around 20 countries. 35% of dogs and cats live on the streets. Orvis News noted that many of these stray animals suffer different consequences if they don’t find homes in time. Some are even deemed aggressive and euthanized, while many are left helpless out in the open. Depi was in Athens, Greece, and sensed the need to ensure the safety of her 10 siblings and her mother. In a video posted on TikTok, the little dog can be seen wandering into a workshop all alone. The rescuers who found her assumed she was a lonely stray. 

They were astonished to see the puppy lead them to 10 other puppies who were her siblings and her mother, all left in a stray space. It was noted that the place they were in seemed sketchy and they didn’t seem to have any necessities. Depi was taken home that day, but the 10 other puppies and the mother had to remain in the same place temporarily. The rescuers noted that since the mother was with the puppies, they knew they would be safe for a while. In another video, they explained that in a country like Greece, there are around 3 million strays and not enough shelters to take them in. They also mentioned that they couldn’t afford to look after and take in 11 other canines. 

Over time, the rescuers worked with local shelters and those who could help bring safety and security to the dogs. According to The Dog People, puppies might miss their littermates if separated during their initial weeks after birth. Britt Rosendahl, a dog behaviorist and training specialist at Woodgreen Pets Charity, noted, “Leaving the safety and familiarity of their mother and littermates can be a daunting experience.” She added that dogs do have well-connected bonds with their siblings and even more with their mothers. While Depi got a safe home, she even took the initiative to ensure that her siblings were also safe. 

The local shelter provided a temporary vaccination for the puppies. Out of the 10, 8 found a place in different homes. The rescuers are still on the lookout for the others’ safety as well. Thanks to little Depi’s observation and simple, kind action, her family has a more positive fate to look forward to. @nana_23015 said, “You helped so much by making their story known!” @mrscarus112 remarked, “Look at how big and healthy they’ve become. Good job, humans!”
