She called her friend 'too ugly' to get a man — then one late-night talk with the mean girl’s boyfriend became the sweetest revenge
Some people think so much about themselves that they do not hesitate to put others down. When a Reddit user who goes by the username u/GlitterFaes was in college, she was friends with a woman who often made crass jokes about her. She would call her "too ugly to get a man." However, one night after she talked with her friend's boyfriend, it led to something that became the sweetest revenge. Sharing the story on June 27, 2025, the Reddit user revealed that the revenge left her friend learning a lesson.
Back when the user was in college, she was close friends with a girl who never missed an opportunity to mock her appearance and call her ugly. "She would tease me about how I looked and say things like, 'You're lucky I hang out with you,' and once she said I was too ugly to get a man because I was single for most of my college years," she recalled. Although she'd laugh it off, the words indeed sting her. However, when her friend began dating a boy, she kept bragging that even if she left the user with her boyfriend, she was confident he wouldn’t cheat on her, because "she wasn't his type." But one night changed it all. During a party, her friend left her with her boyfriend, and the user ended up striking up a conversation with him.
He was a kind man who treated her with respect. They soon hit it off and began hanging out secretly. However, when her friend found out about their secret affair, she was furious. "She found out later and went crazy, called me names, blocked me, told everyone I was a snake," she wrote. However, her boyfriend had already lost feelings for her as their relationship was very toxic. He decided to end things with her and is now married to the user with two kids. She concluded, "She said no man would want me. I'm married to hers now."
Although online users were glad for her happy ending, the post sparked mixed reactions from some. u/StiltFteathr mentioned, "Don't get me wrong, I do love s****y people get their comeuppance, but... 'Married,' 'two kids,' 'happy life' feels like you should be beyond thinking of your husband as 'her man' in any way, shape, or form, even for the sake of sharing this story!" u/lerateblanc commented, "You know, typically I don't agree or like most stories on this subreddit. I like this one, good job. That 'friend' sounds like an awful person." u/twaggle remarked, "Aww how nice, she knows that you can't get a man so she got you one herself, her man."
