She refused to swap her first-class window seat for aisle seat so a couple could sit together — the woman’s complaint to a flight attendant backfired

It was a six-hour flight, and she wanted to enjoy her journey, so she refused to give up her first-class window seat.

Flying first class often comes with the expectation of a comfortable, stress-free journey. But one inconsiderate passenger can quickly ruin that experience. Salamah Yasmeen, who posts as @itzsalamahyasmeen on Instagram, shared an incident from a six-hour flight on October 29, 2026. She had settled into her first-class window seat when a woman asked her to switch places with her boyfriend so they could sit together. Salamah refused, but the woman wasn't ready to take no for an answer and called over a flight attendant. The response that followed caught her off guard.

Salamah was enjoying her first-class window seat and had already settled in for the six-hour flight when the woman beside her asked if she could switch seats with her boyfriend. The boyfriend was in first class too, but he had an aisle seat, and Salamah had no interest in trading her window spot. She wanted to enjoy the view and make a few videos, so she simply said no. But the woman wasn't done yet. She suggested bringing in a flight attendant, hoping they might convince Salamah to change her mind. When the attendant approached Salamah, she gave the same answer. She explained that she had paid for that particular seat and wanted to keep it.

What bothered her was that there was another passenger sitting next to the boyfriend whom the couple could have asked to switch, yet they chose to approach her instead. In the end, she stayed right where she was and enjoyed the flight from her window seat. Salamah later shared that she had no regrets about standing her ground. She joked that she was the one who ended up having a great flight, comfortably enjoying the seat she had chosen. She also made it clear that passengers shouldn't feel pressured to give up their seats just because someone else wants to sit with their companion.

Her video made it to thousands of people quickly, and many agreed with her for standing up for herself and not giving up on the seat. @marsha683944 commented, "The flight attendant was wrong for asking you again. You already said no. The flight attendant should be reported." @shaylaray_ wrote, "Girl, why would you even ASK!!!! She was TRIPPIN!!" @ikeiaunderwood added, "How about not talking to me on my flight if you don’t know how to take care of your own business…bothering me with issues unacceptable!!!"

Another passenger had a similarly uncomfortable experience after refusing to give up her paid aisle seat to a man on a flight. Content creator Larissa expected the matter to end once she declined his request. Instead, the man kept making unsolicited comments, even after she put in her AirPods to signal she wasn't interested in talking. He eventually told her she needed to learn to get her money's worth from the flight, leaving her increasingly annoyed. The experience pushed Larissa to buy larger headphones for future trips so people would understand when she wanted to be left alone.
