The recent LA fires destroyed a lot and even took the lives of residents. The effects included the destruction of the campuses and schools, causing an upheaval in the lives of several students. The seniors of the Southern California High Schools were particularly affected and dejected as they saw a possible end to a dream of a lifetime, per ABC News. However, actor Steve Carell stepped in to offer a newfound hope to the students in the most thrilling way. He took to Instagram to make an announcement, which was music to every Southern California High student's ears.

The students were disheartened that their prom plans might be affected after the fires. While there was a worry about whether they’d even have prom, a dream experience or not, the actor broke the winning news. Addressing his “announcement” to the seniors, Carell said, “How are you doing, seniors? This is Steve Carell.” Using his fun and iconic personality to deliver the message, he continued, “I work with a wonderful charity called Alice’s Kids.” He further mentioned that the charity had decided that the seniors would be getting themselves a prom for free. “If you have already paid for your prom tickets, they will reimburse you for your prom tickets. It’s a pretty good deal,” the actor said.

Alice's Kids will donate about $175,000 to more than 800 students so they can have their dream come true. A post was shared by Alice’s Kids confirming the same. “Today, the six high schools in Altadena are holding special assemblies for their seniors. Once seated, the kids will see this wonderful announcement from our friend, Steve Carell. Yes, we are paying for every prom ticket (about 800) for every senior in that area that was impacted by the Eaton fire!” "Have fun! Enjoy the prom! And remember, this is Steve Carell," the actor remarked. In yet another post, the charity revealed how the staff broke the news to the students. Seated in a hall with the projector playing iconic scenes of Carell from the sitcom “The Office,” the students didn’t know what to expect.

Very quickly, the scene jumped to the video of the actor speaking to the students. As he made the announcement, there was a roar of cheers and disbelief echoing. Students couldn’t fathom the news they heard and were delighted and excited to wait for the special day. The John Muir School (@johnmuirhigh) also revealed how they broke the news to their kids in an Instagram video. Here, too, the kids were stoked to be the recipients of a mind-blowing message from the iconic actor. The room erupted with laughter and applause as the seniors amped themselves up for their special occasion.

Several people commented on the actor’s video, commending him and the charity for their thoughtful gesture. Some even connected back to the sitcom’s scenes and joked about the idea of having Carell make the announcement. @helgaviera said, “Glad it's Steve Carell and not Michael Scott. We all know what happened the last time Michael Scott made a promise to high school kids.” Carell's character Michael Scott in "The Office" went through a similar situation, but in the sit-com, he had to drop on the plan to fund college education of elementary school kids. @benny_boy164 said, “If I actually don’t gotta pay for my ticket… this is big.” @soultisfaction8 added, “I am honestly really grateful for the amazing contribution you made to our school. You have encouraged a lot of students to attend this once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
