Straight man thought a lesbian at the bar was interested when she flirted back — her one question about his tattoo revealed her unexpected intentions
Flirting may seem harmless as long as both people are interested. The second an individual expresses that they don’t want to engage, it should stop. However, some people persist and invite trouble for themselves. A man named Mark Roberts witnessed one such incident. In a post shared on his TikTok page, under the handle @mmarkroberts, on October 8, 2026, he mentioned that he was out with a few friends when a man approached one of them who was a lesbian. Roberts thought that she would ask him to leave her alone, but to his surprise, the conversation took an unexpected turn.

According to Roberts, the man didn’t seem to be that great. He showed up with an attitude and complimented his friend. Instead of telling him she was a lesbian, she put on a play. She pretended to be straight and, in a high-pitched voice, started complimenting him back. She looked at each of his tattoos and told him she was impressed by them. She pretended to be swept off her feet, and the stranger took the bait. He started boasting about them, sharing how each “custom” tattoo had a profound backstory. The woman then asked if she could get a picture of one of them. Seconds later, she showed him a Google search where the same tattoo appeared multiple times among the first results.

Getting uneasy, he tried to cover up, saying that it looked the same but his was "original." However, the woman was not buying it. She kept blinking at him in disapproval until he felt embarrassed and walked away. Roberts was shocked by her response. He wondered why she had to put on such an act. She later revealed that many flirtatious men had approached her in the past, and that when she revealed she was a lesbian, they’d persist. So instead of simply telling them, she decided to “have some fun” and shoo them away. People should be careful when hitting on strangers because refusing to take no for an answer can make the interaction even more uncomfortable.

A line meant to impress can sometimes have the opposite effect. A cashier was left red-faced in another failed attempt at flirting. While bagging a woman’s groceries, he decided to try his luck with some flattering words. He simply asked her who was paying. When she clearly stated that she was paying herself, he boldly mentioned that had she been "with" him, she wouldn’t have to shell out even a dollar. Without skipping a beat, the shopper let him know that in the literal sense, she was already “with” him, and went on to ask if she could get even one item for free as per his theory. He was dumbstruck and didn’t say a word. “Well then, you've already lied,” she remarked. Maybe both instances serve as a reminder to be careful with your words and opening lines if you find someone attractive, lest the interaction go awry.
