Teacher's unique letter to 11-year-old autistic student after he took Key Stage SATs stuns the internet

Children need a little recognition from the adults in their lives to showcase their unique abilities and challenges confidently. An 11-year-old boy named Ben with autism got that kind of encouragement when his teacher wrote a letter for him after his key stage SATs. The school explained to the boy that the tests only measured a little bit of his abilities in the heartwarming letter, so his mom, Gail Twist – who goes by @gailtwist on X – shared the letter with the platform. "In tears. A letter to my 11-year-old autistic son from his school. 'These tests only measure a little bit of you,'" the mom wrote in the caption.

The letter read, "Dear Ben, I am writing to you to congratulate you on your attitude and success in completing your end of the key stage SATs." The teacher mentioned that the boy's mentors and teachers had worked hard with him this year and he had made a lot of progress. "I have written to you and your parents to tell you the results of the test." She added, "A very important piece of information that I want you to understand is that these tests only measure a little bit of you and your abilities." The teacher, Mrs. Clarkson, mentioned the tests were important and Ben had done well on them, but there were several other abilities that he had and they measure them in other ways at Lansbury Bridge School.
She shared a list of talents that the boy had that the tests didn't measure. "Your artistic talent, your ability to work in a team, your kindness, your growing independence," were some of those. "We are so pleased that all of these different talents and abilities make you the special person you are and these are all the things we measure to reassure us that you are always making progress and continuing to develop as a lovely bright young man." She told Ben that they were all very proud of him. People in the comments appreciated the letter Mrs. Clarkson wrote for Ben.
Please tell Mrs Clarkson she is a credit to the teaching profession.

@Beautyboxboutiq wrote, "As a mother of an autistic son, this touched my heart! I only wish my son had experienced such praise. You must be so proud!" @Magnolia_981 commented, "Beautiful! That's one fantastic school Ben has behind him! He should be proud of himself. He sounds like a great kid! Congrats!" @619kabakoyo remarked, "What a fabulous teacher. She hasn't been beaten by the system. Can't wait for Corbyn government, all these children and they will be able to enjoy learning like my children did, an all-round education."

@gamesafoot shared, "An amazing teacher! Ben won the teacher lottery! And she’s right, those tests do not measure all abilities and Ben is obviously at the top of his class when one takes in all of his strengths." @joagordon expressed, "Just read this letter shared on Facebook. I wanted to say a huge well done to your son for achieving what he has. So good of his teacher to write the letter and well done to him. What a big list of skills and achievements he has. All very positive and good things."
