14-year-old hit by truck on crosswalk asked, ‘Am I going to die?’ — stranger's powerful reply made all the difference

A 14-year-old teenager, Chelsea Madrigal, had a terrifying tragedy after she was in an accident after school, per 8 News Now. The teenager was hit by a truck and when she was struggling to fight for life and yearning for help, a stranger came through. In those moments of fear, confusion and nothing but a blur, she was met with a supportive passerby, April Sago, who took control of the situation. When Sago neared Madrigal, the little girl asked whether she was going to die. The one phrase revealed her fright from the unprecedented situation. Nevertheless, the woman helped her brave through and saved her life.

The footage revealed how the tragic accident took place. Madrigal was cautiously crossing the road when a pickup truck abruptly made its way towards her, hitting her. The driver reportedly mentioned that he took the turn when he thought fit and, somehow, unfortunately, crashed into the girl. He stopped and stayed on the scene. The girl’s mum, Elizabeth Mireles, said that she sustained injuries to her jaw, spinal cord and arm and is hospitalized, per FOX 5 Vegas. The mom was waiting for her daughter to return from school when she got the news.

“It destroyed me, it destroyed me because I never knew what was happening until the hospital told me that she was run over,” Mireles noted. Things could have been much worse had it not been for Sago and a few others. The good Samaritan was baffled when she saw the incident unfold in front of her eyes, but rushed to help. “Seeing a child being run over in front of you. My soul left my body,” she remarked. Madrigal reportedly saw the woman after being hit and asked for help, which prompted the woman to rush instantly. She held the 14-year-old’s hand and asked her to hold on tightly. She also tried to assess the situation and comfort her accordingly.

The frightened teenager asked her, “Am I going to die?” “I said, ‘Not today, not if I can help it, help is coming, just stay with me,’” the woman recalled. In that moment, having a hand to hold onto and getting the assurance meant everything. Other strangers, too, arrived on the scene to offer whatever assistance they could. The girl recalled a woman singing to her to prevent her from going unconscious. Recalling her and many others as her angel, the teenager is grateful to be alive today. Fortunately, the medics arrived and quickly transported the teenager to the hospital.

Sago even went to visit Madrigal at the hospital and was hoping for her quick recovery. Madrigal and her mum thanked the people who went out of their way and exercised kindness when the 14-year-old needed it the most.
