Teen was folding laundry when she saw something suspicious outside her home - her clever response saved a girl's life

With increasing crime rates and threats, it is important to be observant and vigilant at all times. This alertness can be a life-saver not just for a person but for those around them as well. A 17-year-old young woman named Yvonne managed to save the life of a little girl with her sharp skills and astute action, per CBS News. The teenager was at home, getting done with chores, when she noticed the little girl and a suspicious man with her. Without a second thought, she immediately reacted to the scene. The stranger turned out to be a criminal and Yvonne’s awareness and bravery helped avoid a potential kidnapping. 

The door camera captured the scene that had Yvonne in disbelief. The teenager didn’t expect to notice the girl walking back from school. She had just gotten home herself and was about to get to her chores when she witnessed the crime about to take place. The 11-year-old girl was walking home from school near M Street and Gulf Avenue. The strange man simply began following her when Yvonne spotted the unusual scenario. Footage was shared by KTLA 5 News of the man reportedly following and trying to get hold of the girl. "I go back to my business folding my clothes and that's when I see the little girl walking and I see the guy behind her," she recalled. The girl was just about to get home but the man, too, was very close to grabbing and abducting her.

"I saw him getting close to her and he put his arms around her. You can see the girl trying to move her way out of it,” she explained. As soon as Yvonne saw him lay hands on her, she immediately yelled at the man. “Hey, leave her alone,” she yelled. After she yelled, the man was distorted and had no option but to quickly escape. Yvonne’s brave and smart move was a life-saver for the girl. “I knew better. Then, by the time I decided to come out, the little girl was gone,” she added. Furthermore, authorities even caught the suspect and identified him as Jose Jaime, per a statement by  Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón . They have charged him with sexual assault and an attempt to kidnapping. “You just don't expect something like that to happen, especially in front of your house," Yvonne remarked.

District Attorney Gascón said, “Our thoughts are with the young victim as she and her family navigate the trauma she has endured. No child should ever have to face such a terrifying encounter and we are committed to supporting her in every way possible through our office’s Bureau of Victim Services,” He also thanked the witnesses and those who stepped up to help and hold the suspect accountable so he could be caught and rightfully punished. Several people applauded the girl for her quick action. @blanco_25 said, “Every person who sees things like this please do something about it! If you don’t want to confront them please call the police immediately.” @kaseyderington added, “We need to treat all kids like our own and watch out for them. Thank God for the neighbor who yelled out.”
