2 teens decided to follow mysterious figure running towards highway at night — they got closer and ended up saving a toddler

A person paying attention to their surroundings notices a lot of small things that many often ignore. However, some such details can save a person's life unexpectedly. Similarly, two teens noticed that a toddler had started running towards the road and immediately sprang into action to get her out of harm's way. They even put themselves in danger to save the girl who was running straight towards the highway. It was in the middle of the night, and there were no adults or parents around, per News Channel 5.

"We were sitting on my porch up there, and we were talking about clowns and stuff. Then all of a sudden, we see this thing out in the middle of the road," Zech Krinjnic, one of the teenagers, explained. The then-13-year-old was there with his then-15-year-old friend, Dalaurence Holland, when the duo saw something coming out of the bushes at around 10:15 pm and they decided to follow whatever it was. "I don't know, I guess I'm 15, a teenager. I thought, let's do something stupid and chase it and see what it is," Holland pointed out. Krinjnic called 911 immediately because he didn't know what had come out of those bushes. They followed the 'thing,' and soon enough, they realized it was a 3-year-old girl running towards a busy road.
"I saw headlights coming up the hill, so I was like, there's a truck, there's a little girl, I'm going to grab her," Holland recounted. He quickly ran in before the truck reached the hill. He scooped the girl up and ran with her in the middle of the two roads. Their lives were in danger for a moment, but he was able to get them to safety on time. Holland felt real joy that he could save the girl's life. "I just started crying and was like, 'Oh my God, we just did something incredible,'" the 15-year-old continued. It was the night before Easter, so the boys were really thankful for what happened.
"Everything in my mind just dropped, my mind went clear, and I focused on getting the kid. I want to save this kid and let her live for Easter," Holland expressed. "She could have been hit. It could have been so much worse," Krinjnic pointed out. Officials at the Mt. Juliet Police Department were contacted after the incident. The girl's parents were interviewed by the department, and the teenagers gave their statements, too. The girl was not injured during the incident, according to Local 12.
