Getting a second chance to do better at something might not be a usual thing. But a couple got just that with their marriage. They had gone through a bitter divorce and the chances of reconciliation looked slim. However, their time apart gradually changed things. Until one day, the man gave his wife a love poem and things took a big turn. They decided to give their marriage a second chance, much to the excitement of their kids, per CBS News. They were both grateful for the opportunity.

The woman, Lorrie Agan, got married to her husband again in 2018 after staying apart for 4 years. None of them had thought that such a thing was possible during their divorce. "It's a miracle that this happened. This doesn't happen every day, that people get a second chance at true love," Lorrie remarked. During their first time, the couple couldn't get along at all by the end and could recall nothing happy about the time, apart from their 8 children. "The fighting, what the kids were witnessing. I just didn't want it in our lives anymore," the woman went on. The kids were also aware that things were going downhill for their parents and were confused as to why all of it was happening.

During their time apart, both Lorrie and her ex-husband, Jeff, decided to work on themselves. They didn't have hope of getting back together, but decided to change things for themselves. The woman started getting treatment for her depression and put in a ton of work to build her self-esteem. The man sought help for his alcoholism and his life had changed because of that. However, the work they put into themselves helped them improve their relationship, too. They could finally be in the same room and didn't need to have two separate birthday parties for their kids. In 2017, they spent Christmas together as well. They had gotten quite close to each other, but their kids had no idea about what was happening between their parents until Jeff gave Lorrie her Christmas present.

He wrote a love poem for her and gave her the ring back along with it. "There are no words to express what I felt at that moment," she expressed. The couple got married once again four years after their breakup and called it their "healing" ceremony. The event was exciting for the children, who were glad to see their parents back together. "I was just so happy for my parents. It's just they've both come so far. I'm just so proud of them," one of the couple's children, Sean, told the outlet. "We get a do-over. Who gets do-overs in this world?" Lorrie pointed out. "The big thing I would add to that is: don't be too proud to get help, because some jobs are too big for you to do by yourself," Jeff continued.

People celebrated the couple's journey in the comments section of the video. @remessinger wrote, "At first, I thought they were going to say they found someone new. In a way, they did, but this is better. The beauty of complete reconciliation and restoration of relationships. That's a love story I can believe in." @JamesAllredWriter commented, "The fact that they both worked at making themselves better is a big part of what it takes to make marriage work. I hope that they keep working on improving the only ones they can change, themselves individually. May they find the courage to continue on." @anah3864 remarked, "Good for them! A powerful lesson and an amazing gift for the entire family. May they all share many years of future joy."
