Gentle parenting has been advocated by a majority of parents. However, it is important to reprimand a child when they do something wrong. The parenting method has to be thoughtfully executed by moms or dads to teach the right lesson without hurting the child. Though correcting a child’s wrongs is not the favorite part of parenthood, it is crucial in developing a child. A dad, Robert Sterling (@RobertMSterling), shared that when his two-year-old daughter threw a fit at her nursery, his wife had a top-notch response to reprimand her. Being little, there wasn’t much to make the girl understand but the mom mindfully approached the situation and the dad supported her too.

The man began his post by saying, “My wife is in the middle of a Mexican standoff in the church nursery.” He further explained that his toddler threw a cup of “animal crackers” on the floor. The girl presumably made an impulsive move out of rage or threw a tantrum and the mom wished to correct her. “My wife refuses to leave until she picks them up. My daughter refuses to clean up until we promise her a cake pop and Bluey at home,” the dad wrote. The daughter was being stubborn but the mom chose to react in a careful and persistent way too. Sterling revealed, “My wife (former Marine) is the most stubborn mom on the planet. My daughter (the personality of an ISIS prison guard) will happily scream for hours on end.”

Things got serious and both refused to budge. The dad even had to get a mocha for the mom, given the long time she had spent at the nursery. However, the mom held her stance for as long as needed. What seemed like a rock-hard disaster waiting to unfold had a promising end. In a thread, Sterling shared a picture of his 2-year-old with a dustpan and little brush broom sweeping off the mess she’d made. “We got her!” he victoriously exclaimed. The couple left quite a few lessons for parents with their experience. The dad mentioned in a comment that the whole event took two hours before the girl gave in and swept the mess off.

Many people applauded them for their determination and for their gentle yet confident approach to reprimanding their daughter. Others even complimented how they kept the situation light-hearted amongst themselves to maintain the subtlety and mildness of the lesson. @TweetMyDaughter wrote, “Hilarious post - we feel you. But also deadly accurate. The mother must prevail or all is lost. With each toddler win, they gain another level and become invincible. Not a joke. Not an exaggeration.” @ChiLastRespondr added, “You, sir, are doing a fine job supporting your wife in her mission.”

@jimmymoncrief joked about the stern face-off daughters and mothers often have saying, “When my wife and 1 of my daughters get into it - I swear Hitler would tremble to be in that room!” @SievaKozinsky remarked, “A life-changing day for your little girl.” @dustinantoine22 added, “Stand your ground!! Love it.” @TexasrunnerDFW said, "Your wife is right. She needs to win this when your daughter is 2."
